more than likely the guy you know got old caps, all new ones are all silver now. The truck probably had those rims put on at the dealership for whatever reason and they had those laying there. They were probably take offs from an early model 06 that switched to chrome rims.

Here is my take on the different caps for 2007.

Buy a 2007 H3 with Cast/Brushed Aluminum double spoke Wheels you get these caps.

Buy an 2007 H3 with Chrome Aluminum double Spoke or Solid Spoke Wheels and get these caps.

I have seen many new 07's with the silver and Black cap on the lot at my dealer in the cast wheel and would assume they are not all take-offs.

Ya know..There must have been three versions of the 06 build:

1. The original with the GM logo by the H3 emblem..With the tow hooks screwed on from behind the bumper and with Silver/Black caps

2. Second version with the only difference that I know of from the original, is that the tow hooks are screwed on from the outside. (Mine)

3. The third version with the GM logo mounted closer to the front fender flare and it has the ALL silver caps..

Just a little observation when I have nothing better to do.

That makes me #3. Thanks for the analysis, I always wonder why... I can now put that one to bed.

We have an 07 we just bought about a month ago. It has the factory wheels with silver caps. Our H3 is black, I like the black spoke on the older caps. I may just add a little black paint to them.

Silly question where do I find the build date on the H3?

When I was installing my step tubes on the truck, I found our build date on a sticker on the frame just under the doors on both sides of the truck.

The build date can be found on a white sticker on the driver's side door sill..upper right hand corner of the sticker (Month and year) only..i.e., 09/05 is what mine says.

Eddie, what type wheels did you get on your H3? Chrome, or the brushed Alluminum?

Is there 3 types of caps????? Chrome, all Silver (not chrome) without the black Hummer logo, and Silver and Black?????

I don't think they are putting any Chrome Caps on Brushed Alluminum wheels for obvious reasons.

Thanks Eddie, I see that there are 3 types of caps. My buddy at work has a 07 model with the black inlet. I guess they put on what ever they have in stock at the time of build.

Nice truck BTW. Good luck with it and hope the Wife lets you drive it more! I know my Wife, once she drove mine, always makes excuses to drive it!!!! I can't blame her......
