I have the hub caps shown below:

All Silver.

Why are these different?

Silver with black.

I'm not sure the pics will show. If not I'll try again.

Well.. You get the idea.
I'm just wondering why they are different. I like the black in with the silver. I may paint them that way.

I think we need to set up a hub cap exchange thread! I'm sure someone has the black inserts that is envious of your silver!

I too have wondered about this. You may be on track with lux vs. the adventure pkgs. I was thinking that it might be a mid-year change.

Crank- I wasn't kidding about maybe someone on this forum wanting to swap with you. You may want to wait a bit on the paint.

I think it was a mid year change by gm, just like the gm badge location change and a few other minor changes they made. older ones were black and newer ones all silver.

I always have seen the black and silver caps on aluminum Rims and the total chrome caps on the chrome rims? I have the total chrome cap and have chrome wheels and I bought a base package with the chrome trim package added. I never seen the chrome/black cap on a chrome factory wheel?

chrome wheels will only have the chrome caps, the silver and silver black caps were on the aluminum wheels. Also unless things changed chrome wheels do not come with the chrome appearance package, the package is just chrome mirrors, door handles, nerf bars and I think fuel fill door. At least thats what it was when I bought mine, things may have changed.

........correct, as of 5 wks ago, the chrome appearance pkg did not include wheels. The wheels are a separate option.

Yes, importkiller is correct in that the chrome wheels don't come with the chrome package. My answer may have been misleading in that I was just stating that I bought the base model with the chrome package to state that the chrome caps don't only come with the LUX package only. Also, if you buy the chrome package, you will not get the chrome nerf bars (chrome step rails) as I paid extra for that option along with the chrome wheel package (chrome wheel package was $900.00). The Chrome fuel door was factory installed and on the invoice was $185.00. I also had to buy my roof rails seperate and bought the black to give a contrast to the other black features I had on my H3 as the front hood louvers.

Importkiller is right on the difference of the hub caps. The earlier trucks had the silver and black and the later the all silver. Steve

Earler models had the GM logo in a different spot, parking lights were DTRL, and balck and silver hubs.

A guy I know at work just bought an 07 and has alluminum wheels (2 thin spokes) with the silver and black cap (not chrome and black cap). I really don't think it has anything to do with when it was made just what type wheel you buy with your H3?
