I just put a turbo from turbonetics in my H3 and a borla exhaust. What I think is that maybe the reason why some people want to take the speed governor off is because 1- they like speed and are aware of the risk, or 2- like in my case want to go and just try in a drag strip without cutting my speed just right before the 1/4 mile ends. Not that I want to race on the streets or highways but in a 1/4 mile strip??? Its really bad when you are winning and smoking the other car and because of your SPEED LIMIT! the other car passes you or does better time. So does anyone here has an answer to take the speed governor off??

This afternoon I was driving on the highway and for the first time I tried to reach the H3 max speed.

BUT, when I reached the 100 mph line the engine abruptly stopped ( ignition cut off )... and re started again just below the 100 mark!!

is there a speed limiter built in or is just my car?

if there is one, does anyone know how to by pass it

Legalities aside, why would you want to go that fast in a Hummer? SUVs are notorious for flipping at high speeds, and I'm sure H3s are no different. Hummers were designed to excel at crawling, not flying. I get passed on the freeway all the time in my H3 Adventure, and I could care less. I just think that if you bought it for speed or highway performance, you will be disappointed.
