I too, partially agree with you. I don't agree with all of you line of thinking. But, to me, those who think that way, just provide me "job security". Those who think they are in total control, are aften bit the hardest.

$700 was for a set of pads for the front and the labor, that's it. Not sure what all you needed done but even $700 is insane in my opinion.

Ain't that the truth!!! It's amusing to see folks with the SUV syndrome .. I was coming back from Columbus a few years back in a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 and it started snowing real bad. A guy blew past me in a Blazer doing about 75-80. Most of us are doing HALF that speed due to road conditions and the damn near white out condition. Not 100 yards ahead of me he loses control and wipes out in to the median. I guess it was not enough of a lesson as he is pulling out about the same time I'm ready to pass him. Took all of a minute or two and he's back in the mediam after another 75-80 mph dash ... The third time he hit something in the median, not sure what but it disabled the vehicle ...
Classic example of those who think they are in control because of being in an SUV or any kind of larger truck .. I agree with you Fireman, they will get bit, it's just a matter of time.
I have NO problem if an idiot kills him or herself on the roads, as long as they don't injure someone else or endanger other people as a result of their own stupidity ... That kind of job security I have no problems with .....

Our tires are not speed rated I believe. I would never want to go past 90 with my H3. Please tell me when you are on the road so I can stay home that day. Seriously, with the high sidewall we have you will lose control and flip. It is not like a blow out with a 35 or even 40 series tire.

Yes, I believe your tires are labelled for speed since my tires are american Goodyear.
and yes, if the tire blow at 90mph there is a very good chance that you loose control and flip.
But with the kind of technology they use today, except if you hit something the chances of blowing a properly used tire on a highway is extreeeemely low.
Of course if your ride has off road tires is a total different story, but the acceptable speed on the tire will also be much lower most of off road tires are labelled ''L'' (upto 75 mph) or ''P'' (upto 92 mph).
Anyway, blowing a TUBELESS tire is close to impossible under normal driving conditions.

Zyne, I believe you are from Sweden isn't,
I am driving quiet often in Sweden and Norway, and as you know they don't clear the snow off the roads in Norway. lazy Norvegian
If I remember well Norway has one of the lowest accident rate in Europe and believe me those guys drive FAST on snow. Next time you go to Scandinavia try to drive from OSLO to LILLEHAMMER they will scare the S..t out of you.
Training, habit and discipline is everything ( plus the right tires for the road ).
Anyway in my opinion those big, long heavy SUV are totally useless to drive fast on snow, your much better off on a small volvo v50.

With the kind of work you have I understand your position, you must see a lot of horrible accident.
But plse, don't color me crazy, most of the time when I am driving the H3 I am with my wife and kids and I don't drive fast with my family in the car.
being a former ( nearly 30 years ago ) F3 and F2 driver (European tour) and having driven the Monte Carlo rally during 8 years I am, from time to time, willig to find out the limits of the cars I am driving.that's also safety in my book: knowing how far you can go ... safely.
Btw your'e having a great job.

Wouldn't really know, I left that hell hole when I was 19, I never drove in the crap over there. Snow driving is just a matter of common sense which unfortunately A LOT of drivers seem to leave at home when it snows.

I don't think you're crazy.
I'm just saying there are too many factors that come into play, to assume that the driver, being a good driver, is capable of running high speeds for sustained periods of time. The autobuan (or however it's spelled) does have the advantage of having traffic flow the same direction etc, so there are factors that make it a bit safer than some other roadways. If we had one here, yes, I would probably take my vehicles out for a "top end" drive here and there to see what they have. But, I don't think I would make it a habit of driving them anywhere close to the top end, much of the time. There are just too many components in a full time 4wd that were never meant to see those speeds day in and day out. I'm sure they are up to it from time to time, but I would expect some sort of failure if it was demanded from them daily. There are better choices of vehicles out there that I would buy for the demands of that type of driving.
I wouldn't expect a sports car to perform well off road, and I can't expect something that was designed to perform well off road, to perform as a well as a sports car, on the road. Theres always a give and take when you buy a vehicle that was designed to perform well in a specific catagory. I wouldn't suggest pushing that vehicle (whatever it is) to perform well at the other end of it's design spectrum.

Hi JM,
anything new about the speed limiter? we have 2007 h3 with the new 3.7 engine. My wife is very unhappy about the limit sometimes...

Aren't the H3's capped right under 100 mph like most other SUV's!? This simply isn't fast enough for you or !?!?! Keep in mind what you're driving .. it's not ment to be a speed demon, it's an offroad vehicle. I don't think I would want to know what the gas mileage is, even in an H3 at 100 mph ... and I certainly don't want to know what my H2 would require fuel wise at the same speed ...

Here in Germany it is no problem to go faster sometimes;-) My wifes father has a ML 320cdi that goes over 150mph without any problem.
We dont want to drive long distances over 100mph but sometimes we wish that its possible to do that.
My dodge cummins has also no limiter, just a limit from max engine rpm. My favorite highway speed is around 100mph. Never any problems with it.
By the way the H3 is equipped with a Prins LPG system, so we drive 50% cheaper than gas.
