Yeah, there are some guys who are burned out from some of the stuff they deal with, and need to be assigned to something else for a while to take a break. I also think that sometimes, people use that "first impression" they get from a cop, as a basis for his or her general attitude. But, when a cop first approaches a vehicle, is probably the most danergour time of a traffic stop. So, I wouldn't expect them to come up all casual and wanting to shake hands and talk about the weather. I pretty much expect to hear the usual, let me see your ID & insurance. Then once they see you not some maniac about to flee, they usually seem a little more relaxed, and personable. But, I think too many people still remember the automated first response, and form an opinion. No they shouldn't call people "boy" etc. I don't know why they would anyway.. I just see it as a potential to make thier job that much harder if the person takes offense to it. I'd rather everything go smoothly, so we can both go on our way once it's over.
