Amazing the "power" a little piece of metal gives some people .. too bad said "power" doesn't come with a complimentary pouch of "Practice what you preach" ...
If violating laws is a perk of the job for cops ...such as speeding, driving through a red light after briefly turning on lights and siren though there's no emergency, getting busted drunk driving and not going to jail ... If all those are "perks" does that mean a bank manager can help himself from the vault Friday afternoon before he goes home!? Or does it mean the guy that stocks the shelves at your local grocery store gets to take some of that home as a perk!? The underlaying principle is pretty much the same ...

I guess the point is .. it's difficult respecting a police "force" who don't have to follow the rules/laws they have sworn to uphold .. and it's CERTAINLY not easy to respect cops who acts no better or no worse than your average common punk while writing you a ticket. I had one try to pull me over for screeching my tires in the Avalanche here at work .. the irony of it was they were in the grass ... the cop then proceed to start screaming at me when I confronted him and refused to admit to something I had not done. He then changed his story and said it was my fronts doing it ... again, ironically the avalanche I had was RWD ONLY!!!! At this point he asked if I wanted a ticket at which I responded, you go ahead and write your ticket.. He came back about 5 minutes later holding out my license, asking "Do you still want a ticket?". I took my license, said "As much as I wanted and deserved it the last time you asked" and I walked in the building I work in. This is NOT the first time I've almost been ticketed for bullsh*t stuff. I was pulled over in the same Avalanche and got "warned" because I was speeding. Personally I think he wanted to search the car but when I refused I was let off with said "warning" ... great, apparently you don't actually HAVE TO BREAK the law to get pulled over around here ... Should be a pre-requisite to have some friggin common curtesy if you are a cop, it certainly has not been tried around here before!

Speaking of Hypocrite cops..

The State of Oklahoma, it is manditory that you wear the seat belt always or it's a $50.00 ticket, and they can pull you over for just that....But day in day out, I see so many cops driving their rigs around without their seatbelts on....Go figure!

Uh huh, same thing here. Yet I have NEVER seen a cop wear theirs ... then again, if they get in a wreck we at least know only the smart ones walks away ... LOL!

This is an apparant true story:

A woman in Texas was pulled over for speeding by a State Trooper. The Trooper walked up to the car and said "Do you know why I pulled you over Maam?"
The woman said "I bet you want to give me a ticket to the next Texas State Trooper Ball." The State Trooper was a little confused by this answer and said "I'm sorry maam but Texas State Troopers don't have balls."
The State Trooper immediately realized what he said, tipped his hat and said "Have a good day maam." He then returned to his car and drove away.

Here is something I suffer from, not because I am a CDL driver and drive a truck, but because there is less hassle to do it to me than it is to you, although they are perfectly within thier right to do so, and that is get pulled over for a paperwork check. All law enforcement officers have the right to pull you over and ensure that you have your licence, registration, and proof of insurance, and any other legally required documents for that jurisdiction. They can also perform a safety check on your vehicle ensureing that all of your lights work, your winshield is not cracked or dangerously chipped, your horn works, and that your tires have a legal amount of tread. Remeber folks, driving is a privalige, not a right.

I will fully agree that there are punks out there who think they are God because somebody gave them a tin star and gun. And yes, this is my impression of the guy everytime I have to talk to one on the side of the road.

Wow, guys..

Perhaps look at it from the cops point of view. Some of you guys are talking about running into some cops who have a God complex, from time to time..

But imagine, if you will, the amount of asswipes they have to deal with on a day by day basis. The snotty rich puke who thinks he's immune from the laws, to the young punk who thinks he can instill fear in a cop by asking for a badge number and yelling that his rights are being violated... or the countless soccer moms who think they can talk their way out of it because they have a busy schedule of running to Wal-mart and other errands.

There are actually people out there, that think it's my job, as a firefighter, to come over to their house at 3:00am and clean up the mess, when they chit themselves. If they did it because they were having a heart attack, we'll treat the heart attack, but we don't clean up chit.. no matter what reason it escaped. We actually had alady who crapped the floor, and had no medical problems, yet called us over to clean it. Yeah, it aint gonna happen, lady.

So, they're just chit outta luck. LOL

Most of you would cringe if you saw just how mentaly brain-dead the general public is. Common sense isn't very common anymore.

That is a very good point. Police deal with the worst 10% of society 90% of the time. To me though, that still doesn't warrant treating me like I am that 10% because they are having a bad day or whatever.
What really gets to me is when you are given a ticket you don't deserve, then go to court to fight it and watch the judge demand that every defendant require a witness to collaborate thier story against the holy word of the officer's lone word. When siad witness is not produced, the verdict is Guilty as Charged. All this, after the judge reads to you your Constitutional Right to be innocent until proven guilty. Sounds to me like you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

I don't get all the hating either really....I hang out with a few cops that are good friends and after seeing the crap they deal with all day every day, I fully understand why they are diks. They even told me once that people always say that cops are azzholes and are punks with guns...until they need one of us, then they change their tune.

As in any line of work..there are the good ones that deserve the recognition and respect...and then there are the ****weeds that think they're all that and a bag of chips.

Your assumptions would be correct (however he is no longer a ticket writin street cop)..and with all that said...I have been around LE all of my adult life (met hubby when I was 17) and yes, I have met a few of those "diks" myself. Especially down here in south FL..we have a wave of bad apples.

By the way he doesn't care for my "Bummer" as he refers to it..GOOD!!..means he doesn't need to be driving it! [sm=forgetit.gif]

btw, am leaving shortly for a road trip..will be checkin that gas mi. post head job...

I guess the point that should be made here is the fact that not all people they deal with are that way ... and I EXPECT and DEMAND some professional frickin curtesy from people, regardless if they wear a badge. I think I'm entitled to that. Guilty until proven innocent!? Yep, that's pretty dead on ..
