Just got a H3 and they did not have a Chrom bursh gaurd at the dealership so...it looked easy to install. Now after reading this thread and looking at my front tow hooks they do not have the torx head screw. Does the bumber really have to come off?

If you have one of the earlier builds…and apparently those with no torx screw in the center of the front tow hooks (view my pictures above) are of the earlier vintage, then from what I understand from these guys here, is that there is a bolt attaching the tow hook plate from behind...The bumper must come off to access it...Sucks!

I drilled mine out from the front. EEEGADS WHAT ?? Lined up dead center and hoped for the best. No problem. Small hole in hook bracket. So I filled it in with some black rubber caulk. After about 20 minutes under my rig I said Fark it and drilled it out. Sounds kind of crazy drillin on a new H3 but its just a bracket and you cant even tell now. Heres a pic of my (some peeps might say DUMB) efforts. Pics are before I filled holes with black rubber caulk
