I just picked up my Hummer from
getting a Flowmaster Delta 50 w/ ss dual exhaust installed. It looks sharp,
but I'm dissapointed in the sound..I was hoping for something more throaty/meaner sounding.
Originally I thought they were gonna put on the 50 HD or 50 SUV, I was dissappointed when they told me the Delta 50.
They installed the 2" to dual 2".
Are my expectation to high for a 5 cylinder , or would the the 50HD or 50SUV be better?
They'll still swap it out for me.
Was The 2" to dual 2" the right size , maybe the larger ones would of been throatier ???
I don't want loud rude , I just don't like the tinny sound of the Delta so far ( sounds like a souped up celica), I would want a little more rumble/bass.
Whats your guys take ?....Thanx Shawn

well, the delta 50's are one of the quietest flowmasters out there...personally I hate em and would have them hacked off and thrown in a dumpster....but thats just me. Don't go with any bigger pipe either...won't help you any and could actually hurt backpressure and torque. See if they could put on a flowmaster 40...that should sound better.

Thanks ImportKiller,

Can a 5 cylinder sound ballsy?
I just cant stand the rice burner car sound.
Its loud enough , just not that ballsy/rumble sound.
The cool thing the place that did my work are gonna order in
3 other mufflers and let me choose , since they don't have much experience with the H3's.
He also said he ordered in a resonator in case.I asked about the 40's and he stocks them , but thought they'd be to loud (maybe ok w. resonator ?)He's thinking we need to go with a higher numbered flowmaster to get the ballsy rumble ?
They installed the longer chrome tips w/3" I.D. , does this have any benefet or performance issues ? I like the looks.

Thanks for any input guys..Shawn

tips won't have any effect on performance, the forty is loud but the cat. converter resonates the exhaust note so much that you can pretty much run the exhaust wide open with no muffler and be ok. Your not going to get a big block sound, which I think is what you want, no matter what muffler setup you go with.

How did it do for performance, notice any differences? Fuel mileage? I personally don't think you're going to get the ballsy sound of a V8 with the I5. I also think you would get that fart-pipe sound with the 40series along with some very bad interior drone!! Just my .02...

I had the 40 series on my grand cheroke with the straight 6 and I was surprised that it didn't sound like you were farting through a paper towel tube It wo't sound like a big block but it did have a nice little rumble to it.

How was the inside cabin noise with the 40 ?
I know I wont get a v8 sound , but I hope I can get a better sound than the souped up "rice" car sound..
Do you think its because of the deltaflow 50?
