Polishing

blackstangs281 -> Polishing (11/7/2006 8:27:53 PM)

I took the skid plate off the H2 to polish it. I used a buffer and some Mothers Metal Polish. Took about a half hour to get the H2 to shine. I was suprised of how well it polished up. I'm sure I could get it looking a lot better with more time. Maybe after winter I'll do the whole thing.
SD, if you want to do this just bring your rig up.

Also a pic of the surrounds I got from Shortbus. Anyone looking to buy anything from him will not be unhappy.(fair price, good product, fast shipping, and kept me well informed).

Man, James did an AWESOME job on my Skid Plate!!!

shortbus -> RE: Polishing (11/7/2006 11:30:33 PM)

damn, i started reading this and had my response to the shiny skidplate all ready to go, then you go and bust my balls with a compliment. all that said, i hate shiny, you all know that, so i'll keep my opinion to myself (this time), and say thanks for appreciating the shiny stuff i no longer needed. damn glad someone found a use for 'em, . . . and gave me an excuse to finally take off the back ones

FOR BOB - if you don't have a buffer, just use an angle grinder with a soft cloth over the grinding wheel. same thing, it should turn out just fine . . . . . .[sm=chairshot.gif]

Dennis -> RE: Polishing (11/7/2006 11:42:30 PM)

And if the grinder don't work..try a Skil saw.

and if that don't work, just hammer weld the damn thing. that's held more PA cars together than bondo and arc welding combined. . . .

ZYNE -> RE: Polishing (11/7/2006 11:56:24 PM)

Soft cloth on a grinding wheel!?? LOL!!!! Suddenly I have visions of said cloth slappin' me in the face 2-3000 times before getting the thing turned off ... Hopefully the idiot dumb enough to try it has the curtesy of filming it .. Guaranteed Darwin award ....

Sugardaddy -> RE: Polishing (11/8/2006 8:35:25 AM)

Yeah..James told me to use Viva paper towels, and aluminum polish to bring back the luster if it starts to lose its brilliance.

i found that a quick grind against granite does a wonderful job of polishing.  you just need to find some sandstone for the final gloss action . . . . . .[8D]

HummBob -> RE: Polishing (8/14/2007 8:48:15 PM)

Thanks Shorty, but it's hard to find that in the MALL PARKING LOT!![;)]

Maybe some CONCRETE CURBS!!![:D]
