While my wife is watching "the game" I'm going to go out and take the rear seat cushions out to make room for more stuff when I move. I'll take some pics of it. I forgot who did that here but said it was a piece of cake. I think it was Ghostrider

Be careful - I took the same advice, removed the bottom cushions only to reveal three big post that can potentially rip the top part of the seat. In other words when you put weight on the back of the folded down seat, the only thing stopping it from hitting the floor is the three gnarlly metal post that once held the bottom of the seat to the floor. If you apply pressure in this situation then the top of the seat will easily get a hole punched into it. I have leather seats and as soon as I saw the potential to ruin the leather, I just put the bottom cushion back in and will not remove it again. Bad idea if you ask me. Even when you take the bottom cushion out the floor will not fold down flat. It's not worth it if you ask me.

Mark, I was actually making room for US big boy

OK I did it and took precautions because of the bolts. Thanks for the advice. I probably would not have thought about that until it was too late.

Here are the pics:

I put a baggie and alot of tape on the nust that I left barely screwed on to provide a flatter surface. There is only 1, the center 1, that pushes really bad against the seat. The rest of them barely touch, even when I sat on them with my hand underneath It should be ok. Here are the results:

Hate to say it Mike but it seem to be a waste of time you did not get that much more space.
They all should lay down flat that's GM.
My 4runner layed flat.

Why is the H3 emblem on the back side of the headrests?

Other than that, You did a good job preparing the bolts so they won't gouge your backs.

I just put my seat cushions back IN and even though I put the protective plastic cap on the bolts I got a nice or not so nice indentation on the seat back that is not popping out. Make sure you put something hard and flat and strong over these bolts or you will have the same indentation. I am thinking of glueing a H3 emblem over the indentation if it does not pop out as it is exactly in the middle of the seat back and might even look good.

try a length of 2x4 with all edges beveled, holes drilled @ all posts, and use the nuts upside down with a fender washer for adjusting the height. Also cover with I/O carpet. Screw some spacer blocks to the bottom to keep it stable. this should be a quick and cheap do.

oops --- screw the nuts all the way down, slip the 2x4 over the posts and adjust the nuts if needed then set the adjusting blocks.

Nice job mike. I really do wish GM would consider making everything flat like every other mid sized SUV on the planet. But then again, I wouldn't want to loose anymore ground clearance underneath.

I cleaned the back of the headrest off with a vacuum, scrubbed it clean, and then used duct tape to take off all the extra lint. Then I very carefully placed them on the back of the headrest and smoothed them off with my finger just enough to make them stick. Eventually the adhesive sticks to the fabric. I think it just takes time for it to settle in there. If you just squish them on there, they will bend and fall right off.

Thanks for the advice willie. I think I'm going to do that. I'll probably go pick up a 2x4 or even a 2x6 and make that little rest. I hope that doesnt make an imprint in the entire seat lol.

I know what you meant about the indentation skeet. I am aware of that. I was hoping it would come out after I'm done but it doesnt look like it's going to huh? I wonder if you soak it with cold water and take a dryer or a heat gun to it if it will shrink back into place. It's a long shot but worth a try. Although you could burn up your fabric.

Looks to me like you could lay a 2x6 across that area and just drill out for the studs..Surely Mike, at your new house there is some scrap lumber laying around.
