if i had to make a guess, it would be the gas prices and the fact that soccer moms didn't realize how big these things really are...
BTW, what is the mileage on these things +/- 10mpg???

Depends on your driving habits ... I averaged just under 13 mpg on my last tank .. this was about a 70/30 split city/freeway driving ..

How timely to have a thread this old resurrected.........

What I'm seeing is a lot of H2's coming in off of leases and/or the Final Smart Buy balloon payment coming due.
Of the folks I’ve talked to, only a few were really concerned with "Cost of ownership". They just wanted to be
free of their current financial obligation in order to pursue other new toys and didn’t like the $$ dealers were offering.

After purchasing my H3, I have Hummerragic Fever so bad I'm looking into purchasing a pre-owned H2 for a second rig. It
would be primarily for local in town running for my wife and longer weekend excursions to the Hill Country and such. A tank of
gas would last her a few weeks even at 12mpg...

The deal I made with my wife is:

1) She gets it for in town use <I commute in my H3>
2) She gets final approval on the color <Black like my H3-----boo hoo, poor me>
3) I can buy anything I want as long as I can put 1/3 to 1/2 down <pretty much my standard M.O.--I can’t abide being upside down on a note>
4) I can't lift it so high her 5'2" self can't monkey her way into the driver’s seat.

I figure it will be a year before I get the finances right.

We'll see how it goes.

Just a fair warning Gunner .. my already tubby H2 becomes even bigger the second she's subjected to city traffic :-)  In my opinion I'd rather drive an H3 in city traffic than my H2 .. but that's my take on it ... a 3 will probably do a lot better on gas in stop n go traffic too ... and with that said ... GET HER ONE!!!!  Can't go wrong with the H2, best purchase I've made to date!

We are talking less than 15 miles a day, 6 days a week. Hell as it stands now, she
walks to her business….5 minutes from the front door of our condo to the back door
of her shop….The miles would come from her just running around and sh!t……
Being from Europe, she is used to walking everywhere and using public trans.
Personal vehicles were a rarity in the big cities where she lived. Fortunately
for her/because of her, the part of Dallas we live in has everything she could
possibly need within a 5 minute walk or by way of the Trolley….She love’s it.

I on the other hand, will drive 2 blocks for a newspaper ........
Just for the sheer enjoyment of sporting about in my H3…….
and… I love my 60 mile commute….I like to drive...
What can I say.

She does not grok that….

Yeah, I know how europeans are about that .. mainly because I am one myself :-)  I immigrated here just shy of 10 years ago so ....

My point was, be aware, the H2 gets big in city traffic BUT, still well worth the money :-)  Go for it!!!!  And by the way, was out in Dallas for work last summer, love that city!!

Congrats on your arrival and making it through the maze that is INS..........
My wife has 12 years I believe.....She was pretty damn Americanized
by the time I got ahold of her....Still can't keep a pantry though.

Point taken.....I've seen it illustrated on many occasions.

Glad you enjoyed the city. Some people just don't find it to thier liking.

How were you with the summer HEAT ! !

The INS part was stressfull but pretty straight forward ... no lawyer involvement, did everything ourselves!  6 months worth of stress but really not tooooooo much of a hassle!

I must admit though Dallas was hot, Cinci is worse for humidity which is truly what kills me ... Was nice being able to sit outside and have a couple of beers after a day in class without getting drenched two seconds after walking outside.  Quite a few folks complained about how humid it was there but I honestly didn't think it was bad at all!

Tell ya what, I’ve helped a few of her friends and acquaintances muddle through the process and now have a new found
appreciation of what I was lucky enough to have been born with. No lawyers here either, just a lot of triple checking ! ! !

CrazyGreek is right.....That Houston humidity will kill ya.
You have to leave your beer IN THE COOLER and drink it with a very long straw.
