I own and 01 Vette Vert and an H3. I looked at H2's, but oddly, the H3 has more leg room. I'm 6' 3". People in Washington have different reactions to both vehicles. Neither is run of the mill . In the Vette, idiots want to race, including 18 wheelers. However, the H3 usually provokes curiosity, but no animosity, yet. I believe in "Save the wave" and sometimes get a wave back form H2's and H3's. I haven't tried my luck with an H1, yet. And, speaking of the H1. Now that it's going away, what symbol/icon will the Eco-Stalilnists choose to vent their spleen on? Hopefully each other!

it always seemed to me like it was the H2 that bore the brunt of the hate from "eco-stalinists". more mainstream, easier to attack as its a GM design and not directly descended from a military truck, yada yada

I've noticed alot of love from H2 drivers (i drive an H2), but haven't gotten a wave back from an H3 despite probably 20 attempts.

I kind of hesitated to wave to H2 drivers because I thought they would think the H3 wasn't a real Hummer. But, I think a lot of the H3 drivers don't REALLY realize exactly what they are driving. My dealer has a demonstration track that proves the angles and capabilities of all Hummers, but I heard the Hummer dealer in Bellevue, WA has no such track. I guess what I am saying is that you don't know what ya got unless someone takes the time to really show ya. So, with the H3 being a new "entry level" vehicle, a lot of them are being bought by people who don't know or care what their capabilities are, the H3 is just kinda cute and affordable. also, a lot of people have never owned a vehicle that has a "secret handshake" like a Vette, Harley or Hummer. They think it's just another transportation appliance. Some people want to take the journey and enjoy the ride, others want to stay home.

What the hell did I just say??

Hey Bill

i love H3's, and i wonder if the H2 has any off-roading advantage over the H3? i'm not convinced.

but i do think you're right that they attracta bit of a different crowd. but, then, H1 drivers would say that as they scoff at H2s driven by "soccer moms".

I must look like an idiot trying to get the attention of EVERY Hummer I see so I can wave at them. Some just give blank stares in return. Maybe I'm trying too hard.

I live in LA and get no reciprocation from Hummer owners. The H2 guys seem to look the other way when you pull along side. I think most H2 owners here are status rather than sportsmen. (This is not directed to H2 owners on this site).

I get much more reaction from FJ cruiser drivers. They seem to have dropped thousands of those things in LA already. My kids make faces at Toyota people on the freeway.

I get the same thing here in Florida. Hummer owners never wave to other Hummer owners. But I did get a shopping cart pushed into the side of My H2 the other day at the grocery store.

My take is the pricing, to go out and buy an H2 you are most likely a really strong enthusiast. The H3 is very affordable and attracts a much larger more generic crowd as is evidenced by some of the mindless topics out there concerning the truck. I have a kid who plays elite level sports and the difference in the passion toward the sport among the parents is 10 fold that of the parents at neighborhood rec center sports.

I think what is going on in major markets is there is so much money that the rule does not hold true. In smaller more rural areas the people are friendlier in general.

Do you think this 'generic crowd' who don't qualify as enthusiasts do take the effort to talk about their transportational vehicles on this forum

R U stalking me from the other thread? Am I entitled to my opinion? I love the truck for it's extreme abilities. Last weekend at a school function a fat ugly 50+ mom told me I had inspired her to buy an H3 for her next car, it was enough for me to sell mine to here and go buy an H2.

Different strokes for different folks

generic crowd

i've seen generic beer, generic cigarettes and generic prescriptions, but i've never seen a generic crowd. is it all white, with the word "crowd" in bold, black letters? the closest thing i've seen is the "white out" at the old Winnepeg Jets hockey games. but they went the way of the generic beer. . . .

It is a bland mindless sort that is hooked on television and unable to make decisions on there own. They are blind in there choices and buy things based on what various celebrities and Madison Avenue say. They are the lowest common denominator and should be exterminated in my opinion. They cross all sectors of our society and are mostly weak. Simply put human sheep!!!

They are the people who condemn the society they live in and blast our armed forces for cleaning up issues that are to unsavory for their MTV sensibilities.

All I was saying is this: You were insinuating that you could see that there are many 'not enthusiasts' that drive h3's judging from the subjects in the forum and I said that if you're not an enthusiast you probably wouldnt be at a forum at all. So dont try to squeeze everyone's juice here and yes you are entitled to your opinion.
