Name ONE thing different, off the wall and/or unique about your town you're living in right now, that has something in common with all 50 States.

For example;

Oklahoma City: Parking meters, the first one was invented and installed here.

Winnie The Pooh is named after Winnipeg (my home city)!!

Winnipeg Bear, the inspiration for Winnie-the-Pooh, was not actually born in Winnipeg. Instead, Winnipeg Bear was purchased in White River, Ontario, by an officer (Lieutenant Harry Colebourn) of the Fort Garry Horse cavalry regiment en route to his embarkation point for the front lines of World War I. He named the bear after the regiment's home town of Winnipeg. In 1924, on an excursion to the London Zoo with neighbour children, Christopher Robin Milne, son of author A. A. Milne, was introduced to Winnie for the first time.

Edison, NJ....Named after Thomas Edison who lived here and invented the incandesant lightbulb. He also invented the phonograph so Edison NJ is the birthplace of recorded sound. In addition to his work with incandescent light and the phonograph, he built the world's first electric railroad in Edison. Pretty cool, too bad I had to look it up online...lol.

My home town I moved out of 1 1/2 years ago is Cicero, IL, better known as Al Capone's headquarters, which was about 1 mile down the street from me. It was a bank at the time, then a currency exchange, and now, a mexican clothing store! Go Figure!

We are also known for the Martin Luther King's march in the 60's since it was targetted toward the town specifically.

I don't live anywhere famous now, but where I'm moving to, is known to have the first of many things, including a main staging area for the civil war amry's and all this other "stuff" i forget right now. It also has one of the oldest working railroad stations in the country.

Really??....I didn't know that...that movie completely freaked me out. Wasn't it suppose to be based on a true story? I don't think your town is too far from me...I'm in Stroudsburg, PA...Monroe County. Guess I should research it and find out something interesting

Yea, it was based on a true story from Point Pleasent WV. I guess Kittanning looked like it and they wanted to use the bridge. They shut down traffic for a good while. During the filming, I lived about 1/4 mile away. The red house that the cop lived in was right down the street from my place. A lot of noise and lights.

Okay since everyone is presenting more than one example...

Here is another one..

Oklahoma City: The first Shopping cart was invented and used here....Hence the first parking lot door ding

The first shopping cart was introduced on June 4, 1937, the invention of Sylvan Goldman, owner of the Piggly-Wiggly supermarket chain in Oklahoma City. With the assistance of Fred Young, a mechanic, Goldman constructed the first shopping cart, basing his design on that of a wooden folding chair. They built it with a metal frame and added wheels and wire baskets, and advertised the invention as part of a new “No Basket Carrying Plan.”

Prescott was once the capital of Arizona. It should be known as Hummerland (there, it is Hummer related) because of the incredible off roading that it offers. Sedona looks exactly like Moab, plus deep forests, sandy deserts, boulder country, lots of snow, lots of ghost towns and abandoned mining towns. It was just picked as second best place to retire in.
Many auto makers test their new cars here because of the extreme summer heat down south and for extreme cold winter driving up north. It is not uncommon to seethe new models, slightly disgused, driving around in caravans.
