When I changed my oil a couple weeks ago on my 07 H3 3.7 Inline 5 I noticed all the stuff you have to remove Just to get to the Oil filter PLUS....I HATE these little 1/2 quart filters. Does ANYONE know of anyone who may make a Oil Filter Re-Location kit for the H3s. I bought a re-location kit for my 04 Toyota 4x4 and it had TWO One quart Filters in line with each other and I LOVE it.....Maybe SomeOne here on this forum could start making 1 Quart and 2 Quart Re-location kits for the H3s....I WOULD be FIRSt in line to BUY one...

You can get longer filters. You would have to do a bit of searching on a filter site,..or just look through filters in the store. Filters are sold by length, diameter, and thread diameter and pitch. (and also whether or not they have an anti drain-back valve) And their model numbers are usually codes for diameter, thread and length. Your H3 has a thread of 13/16" and 16 (pitch?) An outer diameter of 2.921", and a length of 4.526". If the seal area on the filter housing is larger than the filter,...perhaps you look for a filter that is 13/16" 16 thread, 3.3" dia, and 5.5" long. There are only a few threads and a few seal diameters. Finding a longer one is not hard usually. I used NAPA Gold (Wix) for my Subaru, and there were like 3 lengths. I used a longer one. And on that car the sealing surface on the block was much larger than the filter,..so I am sure I could have looked a bit more and found one that was also bigger in diameter. On my 06 H3 I just left the uinder trays off and in the basement. It reduced the time for an oil change to a couple minutes. (No need to even jack it up). Unless you are doing serious off-roading,..they don''t do anything but add weight. And the H3 is already 1,000 lbs over-weight.
