good choice on the best off road vehicle that money can buy. i inspect and help a lot of people buy hummers and as far as what you should buy is up to you. it depends what you want to do with it. i would say get one and figure out what you need off road when you cross that bridge. winches are nice and so are lights but if you never use them and they are used for just looks than it would be a waste of money. if i would set one up for off roading it would have a radio, winch and a spare tire.
there will be a lot of hummers that will be in the price range that you are looking at. if you find some that you are intrested in feel free to PM me the last eight numbers of the vin# and i can look up some info. for you on that vehicle. this is not a business that i am in, i have been a H1 mechanic for years and i want to make sure that people get a good vehicle for what they are paying for.
  good luck on your hunt...

where are you located?  if you are in the midwest looking for a soft top, I know a guy just north of Detroit who has a 2001 Soft top for sale.....

there are lots of different opinions on what to buy, but if you don''t have a pref. on body style the options are wide open....

I also know another guy who has a 2003 Wagon in west michigan who is open to discussions around a sale.... hes not actively looking, but he has a very nice truck as well..... PM me if either of these sound like something you might want to know more about....
