I am in a dilemma between the Mercedes G500 and the Hummer H1. The G500 has its benefits as it was more street practical in Seattle and the brand itself - Mercedes, which symbolizes class & status. On top of that, it is exclusive and a rare SUV that carries the Mercedes brand.

The H1, however, couldn''t be surpassed as far as street presence and appearance. It is just too pretty and monstrous (at the same time). It is easily recognized due to its years at war. I''m looking specifically at the White Soft Top with Tan Interior.

Anyways, I am in Real Estate Sales and Image Power is important for my current plans for wealth building. Which would you recommend for power, status, and influence? The G500 or the H1?

I currently drive a Pearl White ''04 Cadillac Escalade. It''s a nice Luxury SUV, but it''s annoying when I see many other people driving the same car on the road (especially soccer moms)

I hope to receive your advice and share of knowledge soon. Really need to make a decision.

QT from Seattle, WA

Personally I would get an H2 if you wanted to make an impression, but a g500 persoally looks like a jeep or a suzuki samurai( http://www.suzuki-samurai.info/gallery/pic/1990/suzuki_samurai_661690.jpg) with an extra set of doors...If you want to intimidate people than by all needs get an H1...you could aways get a prius to keep appearences and show that you car about the enviroment

Maybe it is where I live but G500s are like minivans around Newport. An H1 is a much rarer vehicle around here. If you are in Real Estate sales I would say get the G500. It is a more civilized vehicle and less likely to stir the emotions of any green clients you have ( mainly due to their ignorance )

I''m kinda indifferent on the G500 but I''d recommend that for a street vehicle for the job. Too many greenies in your area, you''d probably get flipped off by one. And with the negative environmental image the H1 has do you want to lose a sale over that? The G500 isn''t environmentally great either but most people are ignorant to that fact.

Have you driven each? That too could be your deciding factor.

I would have to say that G500 really are not that cool and to me I dont see why they are so prestigious.  There are a lot better cars out there to make you look like yoyr full of power and wealth then a G500 so personally screw the people that will hold it against you for driving an H1 and buy it.  Hell if you want something to stand out just by a nerdy little smartcar.

dude, get the g500, youre looking at an H1 for all the wrong reasons and If you get it then YOULL be very unhappy because your expection luxury and class. not the unbeetable offroadablity and utility of the H1...

Seriously Zach has a good point.  The H1 was really not designed to be an "ON THE PAVEMENT DAYLY DRIVER"  A buddy of mine has one and it always reminded me of riding in a school bus.  Loud clanking Diesel.  Rough ride.  Cramped Seating etc.....   But when you went offroad it was unbelievable.

Some may disagree with this but Only driving an H1 on-road is like only driving your Ferrari offroad.

The g500 inside isnt realy that nice on the inside but for what you are looking for i would go with the g500 over the h1 because of what Zack said. The h1 has a much bigger wow factor than the g500 does, but if you are use to a cadalac then you will be more comfortable in a g500. Although you will viewd as alot more manly in the H1 and if you plan on going offroad the h1 is far more superior to the g wagon. Look into getting an H2 and slaping some bigger tires and such to give it a more rugged look.

In addition to my earlier reply I would agree - get an H2. Another alternative is a Range Rover. Both can carry the Image Power you suggest even if they are a bit more common than the H1 and G500.
