Did you turn the wheel to the extreme left and rights while parked and see if the wheel is actually turning? It sound like you may have a loose or broke CV joint, shock mount or even a broken or loose tie rod. You need to steer that wheel and see if it's even turning properly. Also, when the wheel is turned, grab the tie rod and drive shafts and try to shake and jiggle them. IF they make any kind of clanking noise or feel loose, you know what the problem is. You better drive that thing REALLY slow to the dealer. Remember what happened to the other H2's with the wheels falling off while driving!!

Also, grab the entire wheel in question and try to manually steer it and turn it. Shake it and see if it feels loose. It could be something as simple as the lug nuts being loose, but it doesn't sound like it. Tighten those up also.

ORIGINAL: shortbus your steering being loose could be a worn pitman arm, or sector shaft on the steering box. as for the loud sound, try taking off the skidplate and turning full each way. my skidplate makes all kinds of noises, there's really no way to tighten it so it won't creak and pop when the frame twists on full turns. if you have a broken cv joint you'll feel it in the steering for sure. if the tie rod is broken, you're not going anywhere. should be easy enough for the dealer to resolve. Huh. never thought of he skid plate. As far as worn parts, it only has 4000 miles on it. Anyways, their coming to pick it up with a flat bed.

Not to mention that my tires were "cupping".
