Alpha Ride

Alpha Offroad -> Alpha Ride (6/18/2008 4:04:45 PM)

I have a shackle lift (rear) and torsion key lift front but I have yet to install the keyways. I just cranked the tb''s. Do the new keys lift the front w/o so much stress and tention on the t.b''s cause my ride was seriously compramised. Highway driving is sometimes scary and it feels like I need a kidney belt. I know I have too much neg. camber but that can''t cause the horrible ride I''m experencing..., Can it?

Sounds like you may have cranked the Tbars too far. How many turns did you make? You will get a little more float in the front end by raising the front end. It should not feel as you describe.

If its that bad I would put the keys in aand get another alignment since yu already have the keys.

But the first thing I would do is........change your font size and remove the bold lettering[:D]

Doc Olds -> RE: Alpha Ride (6/19/2008 6:24:14 AM)

Ditto font and lettering.

Keys or no keys, you went way too far with the T Bar crank and took the uppward travel out of the front A arms.  Back it down, do a search for the multitude of T Bar adjustment threads and measure the distance to the center of the front hubs to the fender ....... 24.5" is the MAX ....w/ suspension loaded/on the groung no jacks.

Search and you shall find.   One of the best  Front Leveling/Shocks & 35" Tire/Wheel FAQ    ;  RE: How much can I lift the H3 without...  ;

Wow I''m not even gonna read that.

Alpha Offroad -> RE: Alpha Ride (6/19/2008 5:39:10 PM)

I only went 1.5" from stock. Passenger side needed more cranks to get to 24 1/2 " from hub to fender. I love how everybody assumes they know what I did wrong w/o asking. Sorry bout the font. Sounds like some guys need to step up to a 22" lcd.

alrock -> RE: Alpha Ride (6/19/2008 8:10:07 PM)

Ok, now that I moved back 3 feet I can read it. And a 22" LCD isn''t going to make the font smaller, just allow more oversized letters onto the screen.

You said your camber is off - did you ever get an alignment? That''s always the first thing after the T-bar crank. Lots of people have success have success with the t-bar crank, read through Doc''s links (He''s posted that same post so many times he''s got to have it on a favorite or something) and you may find your answer.

Timgco -> RE: Alpha Ride (6/19/2008 8:35:47 PM)

Try turning your tbars down some.  Try it at 24" and get the alignment done.  you "should" notice a difference in ride quality.

Is the ride just really harsh?  example:  You are riding down the road and it feels like your hitting huge speed bumps and tyour teetth rattle?  Or is the front end jsut really floaty and all over the road?

Alpha you ask us to try to help diagnose what is wrong with your truck based on your limited description of what it is doing and what you did. We can only ask questions and tell you what we think based on what we know about your situation. As you answer the questions we can refine the help. The purpose is to illicit more information from you so we can help. Your truck, based on your description is acting like the front end was raised to far. As you give us more info we can provide better help.
