trying to run a dvd player to the fuse box......can one of you hummer experts tell me how to do it since the fuse box is near the engine

Why do you want to connect it to a fuse box? Why not run a line to the battery and put an inline fuse? Much simpler to do.

ok how to do that how do i get it to the inside of the car......the directions said run it to a spare line in the fuse box and i looked in the manual and there are some open sections in the fuse box........

Cut a hole through the firewall, that''s what I did when I installed my neon lights... Ran them to the headlight fuse for the ultimate toggle switch

Exactly. Don''t forget to put a rubber grommet in the firewall (25 cents at the hardware store) to prevent the firewall from cutting your wires. There''s no need to use the fuse box but you do need an inline fuse.

For the DVD player, you probably also need to connect to switched power. You can find lots of suggestions for finding one of those wires in the Audio/Video section. Search car stereo install, DVD install, etc.

thanks bro i never messed with the hummer but the pics help out a bunch.....i know you hummer pros would be able to help...i am glad i found this website.......one question what is the stuff you used to seal the hole.......

use the fusebox will make a neater instillation!!! less wire, less connections, less mess and cleaner.

just use one of these at the fusebox

I usually use the big rubber grommet for the vehicle harness. No drilling needed, just find it, poke through it with a straightened wire coat hanger, tape your wire to it and pull it through.

I''m trying to do this with my radar detector. I got the "add a circuit" part like in the picture, but when stripping the power cord for my detector, there is a red wire and a white wire. Which one do I connect to the extra fuse spot that goes in the fuse box?

90% of companies use the red wire or red striped wire as the hot or +12V lead. That red or red striped wire would be the one that goes to the add-a-circuit wire, the black or black/white wire would just go to a good ground.

To be safe look at the cigarette lighter plug you cut off the radar detector...there will be the same color wires in the plug as the ones you just described. See what color wire is soldered to the tab that the fuse makes contact with...that will be the hot or +12v wire
