Just picked up a new 08 H2. Power is pretty good. I love the car but mpg is really bad compared to an Escalade.  Took my car to vegas and lake havasu over the weekend.  H2 seems strong enough to tow my boat but coming home from vegas w/o the boat and climbing hills, the transmission doesn''t hold gear very long to give enough power.  Anyone have an 08 with this problem? Also wondering if the predator will make it better?  Thanks

I don''t know about "REALLY BAD" compared to the Escalade??

I get 12.5 in the H2 and only 14 in the Escalade!!

I don''t have an 08 H2 but I have heard a few people complain the the 6 speed transmission does shift too much. I would call and talk to the Predator guys but I think they claim their programmer fixes a lot of that.

My best friend bought an 08H2 last month and he gets exactly the same mpg that i get in my 07, around 12.5.  Also, he hates the 6spd tranny....says its always in such a low rpm that to get any power he almost has a double downshift to get up to speed.  I guess they did that to offset the bigger engine for better MPG.

In a few day''s, mine''s averaging 11mpg in mixed driving. If it gets up to 13-14 after it''s broken in, I''ll be thrilled.  Isn''t there a forum member who recently became a Preadator dealer? I remember seeing a post a week or so ago whilst I was lurking. He mentioned something about there being a lot of markup in one, lol. I''ll take one with the forum discount please.

just got back from Yosemite, put 1000 miles on the H2 and I got about 12.5 mpg.  wish I got 15-16 mpg.  That would have been great.  Used 80 gallons at 4.80/gallon almost 400 bucks in gas

Congrats!

Does the 08 H2 take 87 octane?  What does the manual suggest?

With the 72 Hour Sale going on I went a test dove a New 08 yesterday.  However we are in the process of buying a house and I cannot do any other financing right now.  But I drove it anyway to see what I am missing.  I will tell you that the 08 is AWESOME compaired to my 03. I really wish I could pull the trigger on a new one right now.

Anyway in regards to your question the truck will shift less in Tow/Haul mode as It will hold gears much longer.  Also you might want to try and Tow in Manual Mode with your Paddle shifters.

Just my .02
Eric

Yeah i did use the paddle shifter, just annoyed me b/c everytime I went up a small slope, I had to downshift to 4th or 5th gear.  Does anyone know if the predator would help in regards to this

About 7 weeks ago when we test drove a H2 for the first time, the lot had 2 left over 07''s. We test drove one 08, and both 07''s. The 07''s felt like they had more puch to them. It was a hard choice to make, but we bought one of the 07''s for few reasons. One was the fact it felt like it had better kick to it, my wife liked the color, and it has a really cool hard shell tire cover. Price was only about 4k less for then the 08''s.
