I talked to gm technical assistance today on the marker lamp issue and there was nothing new on this. I hope it comes out soon as I have a few unhappy customers. Steve

I know some of you have added your own Marker lights and I was wondering what size lights you used for the rear and for the front. Were you happy with the way they look or now that they are installed would you have prefered a different size ? Laslty if you like them do you have a link to where you purchased them?

The marker light fix is almost here. The way it was explained to me is there will be some type of wedge to keep the air from getting under the front edge of the the lamp strip. There will be a new part number for the kits and a part number for the repair kit for lights already on trucks. I can't picture this wedge looking very nice on the truck but will wait till I see it to pass judgement. I would not go running to the dealer yet as this was just told to me on 12/1 through TAC (The fix has not been offically announced). Steve

Just purchased the same lights that "Z" installed on his H3 at Wal-Mart -- $40 for 5 lights...beats $500+ from a dealer or even a wholesaler. Am waiting to hear from him on some wiring tips but shouldn't be too hard. I live on a boat so waterproofing the installation is a no-brainer. If it's as easy as I think it will be, I will do the front amber lights the same way.

I just inquired about he lights at my dealer and was told $900 installed.  They mentioned they can install it right away and didn't mention any issues regarding them.  I thought the price was a little steep also but they said it would take the entire day to install with the wiring.

Anyone get these installed by the dealer and are you happy?  Is there some clear instructions anywhere that I can use to install them myself?

You can get them on  ebay or gmparts direct for less than half of that.  GM part # of new kit is 19170450.  If you are mechanically handy (and not afraid to drill a few holes in your roof) they are pretty easy to install, takes about 3 hours.  If that scares you, maybe better to have dealer do it, but you'll pay top dollar.

I thought those prices were outrageous...I'd already spent a ton of money on chrome..so I did both back & front marker lights myself.  Lights and other supplies, including a few tools, for both back and front were under $200.  Time is another story...took me almost 2 full days to do both and completely wore me out.  Looks great though.

I work on boats some and have intermediate electrical knowledge and that is really all you need to do this.  Plus...lose your fear of drilling holes in your Hummer.  The dealer's going to do it anyway.

Best of luck to you...

Yep...just went outside and took these.  The red lights (back) are from Wal-Mart..$8/each.  The front lights w/ chrome trim are from Westmarine (they're marine trailer marker lights)...$15/each.  Used marine wiring to wire all lights to one minibus (also from the boat store) and silicone to seal around the drilled holes.

Nice............very nice.....thanks for the pics.

I'm not sure I have to stones to drill into the body of my truck yet.

BTW: Are those LED and if so, will you have to replace the whole light assy if one goes out?

thanks...yes they're all LED lights and I don't know the answer to your question....If one fails, they all do?  Really?  Well, if it's the back ones, they're only $8/each so I'd be out $40.  Think I'll take my chances.

If you mean...are they all hooked together like on a mounting board (like the factory front marker lights), they're not.  Each light is drilled & mounted on the truck separately & then wired to a minibus inside the truck.  So if one fails, I'd think you'd just take that one out & re-wire in a new one.
