Wonderful, GM will become the "car-appliance" company, building little non-descript transportation machines for the ignorant masses.  Love it or hate it, Hummer did what Saturn never could, give GM a division that everyone recognizes.  Keep the brand, expand the offerings, killing it off would be brain-dead mismanagement, like handing Ford the police cruiser market in 1997.

As a former GM employee, I was never impressed with Rick Wagoner and I don't understand why he's lasted so long.  The board should hand the company over to Lutz for a couple of years so he can clean house and put GM back in the black!

I think the quote, from what I can tell, was they're going to conduct a 'strategic rethink' and selling was one option.  I should have more info soon...

Give GM a chance and they will do the wrong thing. I guess killing off the Corvette would be next on the agenda. GM, got any other best in the world products you want to quit making? Let us know Brian.

GM sold their stake in Isuzu (Duramax) to Toyota, I hope they don't sell them Hummer!

They say we are not making money. i say bs. I am seeing more H3's out on the street now than i ever have. I beleive the pricing is such that people are starting to see that these really do cost less that the loaded silverados,suburban's and the comparable ford & dodges. It's all about the mighty dollar.

Doubtful, they still have H1 training there - and their facility also handles military Humvee training.  The academy is run by AM General, and is independent of GM.

The greed of the oil companies is affecting everything from food, to housing. Ten by ten's of thousands of companies is closing, or going bankrupt from mom and pop shops to big industries. Even our highways and roads are falling into despair, as states can no longer afford the materials that are used to pave them. (oil prices drive up the coast of asphalt)

Where we once thought that terrorists, or weapons of mass destruction were going to destroy America and the world, is going to turn out to be the greed of the oil companies. Not to mention the greed of the dumbass's in the stock market that keep driving up the cost of oil. They are investing in the fall of America and are just too stupid to realize it.

The oil companies also count of the stupidity of some that believe America's gas prices fall on those of us that drive Hummer's and have RV's and boats. While they are busy pointing their fingers at us, it keeps the real reason and whom is to blame out of the site of fire.

When America falls to her knees due to oil/gas prices, the only thing left to do is start selling America piece by piece store by store industry by industry to other countries.

As fun as they are to drive, the era of the Hummer-sized SUV is over unless a radical advancement is made in fuel technology. Someone will still produce these for the Military, if there's a continued demand from the armed services (there will be).

The cost of oil is a function of economics. GM converting 4 plants from truck to car production is a function of economics. Blame the oil companies all you want, it's supply and demand; and there is a lot of demand from China and India now.

Sorry to be such a buzzkill, but the way we consume power is about to change big time. Fun while it lasted.

Do you even own a hummer or are you here to troll.  Because from this ignorant post, I doubt that you have ever even sat in a hummer.  You should know that the H3 gets 20mpg, better than any other SUV in it's class, it also beats most smaller SUV's also.  H2 Diesel will be out late this year, beating all other SUV's in it's class, even the Hybrid crap coming out... not to mention towing capacity.

So I don't get where you get the notion down that "radical" advancements needs to be made... because there are hundreds, if not thousands of other cars out there that gets a much poorer gas milage... and it doesn't even need to be an SUV.
