Absolutely. I love our H3 Alpha. It is a fun car to drive and I can hardly get my wife out of it. I started with an H2 back in 2003. I have liked them all.

That may have come out the wrong way, I love my H3, but I am in the millitary and so the H1 has sentimental value to me.  My wife is the same as yours, after driving the H3, it is now her new favorite car ever!!  I knew I married the right lady.

I drive them in the military also, I think that's part of the reason that I DON'T want one. I respect them for what they are, you can't help not to. I know they are 2 totally different trucks as far as creature comforts, but I just can't get out of my head driving around Germany with the snow and cold air blowing in under the top and freezing half to death

Some on here already know, but my wife is the one that introduced me to the Hummer civilian lineup. She had an 06 while I was still driving my PU. Was very skeptical at first, but ended up falling in love all over again.

There are a few good ones out there H3dude

love my H1s. I won't give them up. Only open tops I have been in have been nice. Not the type of wind issues you had. Mine are wagons so no issues there either. The military Hummers are pretty spartan but I think that for an off road vehicle I would be just fine with one.

I would love to have one of the military H1's just to off road in, but I can't seem to find one in my price range (which isn't much). As far as a combo on/off road I am VERY happy with my H3 though. Wife and I both wanted one, and I couldn't afford 2 deuce's or a deuce and a 3 so I went with 2 H3's. Very happy with the decision.

I've had 4 dodge 3500 4x4 diesel duallys so I guess I did downsize when I bought an H3 (sold the 5th wheel trailer so didn't need the truck anymore).  I wish my H3 got the mileage my dually's did (18-19) but I'm fine with it and for me the gas price isn't a big deal. I will trade it in if they come out with a diesel H3 though as long as it's a good engine. The H3 just begs for a little 4-banger diesel and I hope they make one.

It'll all circle back when the commodity traders have their run on our wallets.  Remember the dot com bust, the run up on gold and global cooling of the 70's?  The media hypes things way out of proportion and gets everyone in a panic, then it all changes and they move on to the next crisis.  Do you really think Chrysler would be offering $2.99 gas for three years if they knew the market wasn't going to change soon?  Chrysler knows something we don't know...

Good call on Chrysler's motive RealJeep, but with incentives like that you probably don't get the $4k rebate if you take it too.  they might actually make money.

You got 18-19 mpg in a 4x4 dually? My wife's 4x4 diesel F-250 makes me smile when it hits 15 mpg.

II love my H3, love wheeling and I am lucky enough that I can afford the gas.

Those who are concerned about the environment (I, for one, am) can look into carbon offset programs such as this one: http://www.carbonfund.org/

From the (limited) research I have done, it seems legit and the idea seems good also.

rhill20 I am with you. It is all relative and will come around. We have the same happening here in Aussie. When we went through AUD$1/L everyone bailed on their big cars and the 4WD market suffered. the everyone got used to it and the sales came back. Now we are heading for AUD$1.50/L and the forecasts are for AUD$2/L in the near future.

4WD and big capacity cars sales will suffer...for a while and then recover as everyone gets used to it and inflation adjustments in wages etc take effect.

It could go full circle but again it may not but for now the SUV are setting on the lots as no one wants them.  If anyone plans to trade for another vehicle you're gonna take a big hit on the trade in.

You know Hummer dealerships were offering something like this a while back and it backfired on them. The greenies were crying foul, saying that GM was subsidizing their gas-guzzler lines by offering a fuel rebate. Funny that Chrysler gets a pass on this. Greenies love Jeep, Land Rover, and Subaru.
