Just getting started on the upgrades to my 2008 H3 Alpha. Thanks to everyone for your imput on lifting and tires. I cranked the torsion bars and added Bilstein shocks to the front. It drove fine, but I am going to add the ARB winch bumper and winch when they become available this summer. I turned the torsion bolt 5 full turn to level the truck at 24". With the extra 170 lbs for the V8 engine and no telling how much for the steel bumper with winch, I decide to add the ReadyLift torsion keys. I then bought 5 new Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires to finish the first phase. Bought the 5 tires mounted, balanced, and installed at a 4 Wheel Parts show in Dallas last weekend for a total of 1290.00. I bought the Bilsteins from the Cognitos website for 187.50 delivered and paid 188.50 deliver for the ReadyLift from the Hummer Parts eBay store. Now I'm off to get the alingment. Again, thanks for the advise, Mark

I pulled off and sold the chrome rails for that purpose. I'm thinking about Rocky Road Supersliders, but may end up fabricating a set myself. Thanks, Mark

I recommend the Rocky Roads. A lot of people like the OEM and from what I have seen they work fine also. I was able to the the Rocky Road sliders cheaper than the OEM. Truck looks great. How to the tires ride?

Looks great and it seems like you put a lot of thought (and forum reading) into your truck.

I really like the Rocky Road sliders and I use them on the rocks pretty frequently. It'd be a lot of work to fab up two sliders that would be equal to or better than the Rocky Road ones. The only thing I'd change, and someone here did it, would be to weld some flat iron to the braces to increase the smooth surface area. But I haven't been hung up on them yet so it hasn't been an issue.

The tires ride better than I expected, but you know they are there. After changing the torsion keys, shocks, and cranking it up 3", the truck was way out of line. After I had it aligned today it drove out good. The tires are LT3157516 which are about the 35"X12.5 size. I spoke to the Mickey Thompson rep at the 4 Wheel Parts exhibit on Saturday before buying the tires. He said I should get close to 40K miles if I keep them balanced and aligned. Hope so! He also said the company, which is owned by Cooper Tire, sells the tire at a rate of 2 to 1 over any other model.

The fuel door is not locking. It is the GM OEM equipment I bought off of eBay and added it last week. Thanks, Mark

This is only my opinion. They are the best tire and size for my needs and I have no regrets.
