A job well done - excellent pics. Are you happy with the system now that it's installed?

Thanks, I am very happy with the headunit. I previously had a Chevy Colorado with the previous model (IVA-W205) head unit installed, so i just carried over the GPS, XM, and HD radio from that. I traded in the Colorado for the hummer, and sold the older head unit on Ebay. I will also be installing some JL Audio Front speakers with an amp, and subwoofer/amp. Just need to find some room to mount the amps. I may have a custom fiberglass job done in the back.

Got a question about your 505...

I''m currently running the IVA-205/PMD-B200/PXA-H701/CHA-S634/TUA-T020 combo.  I''d love to upgrade to the 505, but the only thing I''d gain is the album artwork.  Does your iPod connect with the KCE-422i cable (full speed), or does it use a USB?  I read a review (Crutchfield) that rates the 505 pretty low because he had to use the USB, which doesn''t access files as quick as the 422i cable.  Any thoughs?  Now that you''ve used it a bit, what are your thoughts?

Shane

ipod must be connected with USB to get album artwork. connecting the ipod with the USB is just as fast as the 422i cable, no difference. If you plug in a thumbdrive, there is a slight delay till you see every song. If you have a lot of songs it can take a while (Still talking thumbdrive). You can play videos from the ipod if you connect it with USB.

Do you have the stock monsoon sound system? I have that now and am happy with the sound of my stock head unit and wanted to know how the sound afterwards compares. I''d rather not add another amp or sub. I''ve done that before with other cars and I''m hoping to put my money into other upgrades with my 08 H3.

Yes I have the stock monsoon system, so no real big gain in sound. But if you want a 7" touch screen, DVD, Nav, HD radio, XM/Sirius Radio, Ipod Integration it is just one of your many options. Nav, HD/Satellite radio can be added at any time if you dont want to do it all at once. I plan to upgrade speakers and sub eventually so this is just the first step.

Cool, I didn''t figure on gaining too much sound by just replacing the head unit, but I didn''t want to lose any of my original sound either.
