Hello All,

A forum nubie.

I'm looking to connect my RX65 radar detector to a switched hot line in the compartment that houses the sunroof, map lights, etc.

I've tried using the orange line going to the sunroof along with the black line going to the same switch but when I turned the key on the sunroof vented.  Obviously not what I wanted.

Can someone direct me to the proper hot wire and ground wire I can use to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Oh yea, I have a 2006 H2

Thanks!

First off...........Welcome!

As for the radar detector, I just ran the wire across the top of the window, under the piller trim, and into the fuse box. You can ground it right there also.

Also interested in which wire for switched 12 VDC.  I have a couple of things to mount that need power - rearview camera & GPS.

Thanks in advance.

You need to tap into the Hot wire BEFORE it reaches the switch.  And Check  to make sure that you are truly grounded.  It sounds to me like you tapped into 2 power wires. Let me explain:

If your supposed ground is really a hot you are letting power come into the vent motor and bypassing the switch.  Move you ground.

I installed my XM radio up there and everything works fine for me.

Hello friend,
With an inexpensive 12 volt light tester you can find a "switched fuse".
Just touch each fuse top with the tester and each time you turn your ignition key to the accessory position.
If the tester lights when you turn your key to the accessory position, then you've discovered a "switched fuse".
Just run the wire across the top of the window, under the piller trim, and into the fuse box. You can ground it to the vehicle chasis right there also.

I tapped my back-up camera into the fuse for the rear wiper so I could have the camera on whenever the truck is on.
