I wouldn’t even think about jumping a curb with my wife in the truck! Jeez, I never hear the end of it.

I have a handicap plate but sometimes I don’t park in the handicap spot because some days I’m able to walk better then other days. You would not believe the crap I have put up with simply because I drive a Hummer and people haven’t bothered to look at my license plate. I’ve actually had people say to me, “You can’t park there” and I tell them “Did you look at my license plate” but the exchange is not always that pleasant.

Tina,
You need a handicap tag for your mom when she’s riding with you otherwise you shouldn’t be parking in the handicap spot, sorry.

I have one and only use it when she is with me..I am not like some people who have it for a relative and use it for themselves..My pet peeve is that when I do have her and I see people getting out of their vehicles and aren't handicap and thinks its funny knowing I had to park a long way...and believe me..I know everyone is thinking if she can get in a hummer..why a handicap space..but that it the only vehicle I have..need to get the step stool out takes about 5-10mins just to get her in..take everything with me and do it every time she gets in and out...I do it all the time..beats her sitting in the house all day.

I find it Ironic how people bitch about someone handicap in a hummer but forgets about everyone else in their Jeeps, Tahoe's, Suburbans, Escallades, etc.

It's almost like hummer has this unwritten requirement that you need to be able to climb the broad side of a mountain before you can enter it.

I'm 6'6", climbing in a lifted H3 is normal for me, climbing in something like a Focus or any regular sedan is killer for me.

Tina,
I apologize as I misunderstood you. I didn’t realize that you did indeed have a permit for your Mom. I too get pissed when people abuse the handicap permits issued for someone else. What really makes my blood boil is when they don’t have any handicap permit at all and park in the space.
I agree, it's like someone with a handicap plate or permit is supposed to drive a certain type of car. Like Ockie, I too cannot even sit in an automobile and must ride in a truck like vehicle. Getting in and out of a car is simply impossible and too painful for me.
Usually if someone makes a comment I tell them to look at my license plate or to mind their own business.

Ya he seemed as if he had a bit of an attitude, but I just blew it off and was friendly and he seemed to soften a bit. When I saw him jump the curb when he left, I just laughed.

Amusing story... My wife would have stood there and talked to the dude for a half an hour, LOL

I've had only positive comments so far about our H2, (besides them asking, "Doesn't it eat a lot of gas?")  I'm sure somewhere down the line I'll be hearing it from some eco maniac.  I look forward to that day... lol

i used to drive a dodge SRT-10 pickup with a v-10 viper motor in it, a six speed gearbox and zero practical use.

I had a hippie eco nut start in on me about fuel....i chuckled and told him it ran on dinosaur bones and panda tears....he didnt like it.
As i was leaving the parking lot he was in the lane next to me in a prius....roflmao...there is a god....i rolled forward placing my exhaust as close as i could get it to his door and let her rip....all 500ci running through a borla exhaust....banged it of the rev limiter a few times then dropped first and left 2, 12' wide black stripes down the street in a cloud of fossil fuels and burning petrolium products...... i dont know bout you guys but, destroying the environment is just plain ol fun sometimes....

That was funny. When I am home and drive my 80+ year old parents around I have gotten the looks and a few comments about parking in the HC spots. I vote for the MYOB route. Both parents have a difficult time getting around and have the permit. People look at me and think we should park there and never consider the fact that my parents just might be the ones that require the close access.

i always park right in front of the entrance to our hs football games by hopping the curb and parking on the grass.

oh and my friends dad has a sticker on his f-150 that says something like "this truck uses eco-friendly carbon fuel" some sort of oxymoron like that haha

It is very frustrating to obey the law and then watch others not care and do what they want, but it is even harder to judge people and think you know them and their circumstances.
