I heard a rumor that you have to buy the entire socket...

email Gene.... he should be able to tell you...

I talked to several people when I had to replace one the lighter/power sockets on the 97. All I could buy at the time was the the lighter set complete with the cover. Another suggestion would be to take your wife to the local dealer for a test drive for her possible new Hummer. While she drives and the salesperson sits in the front seat schmoozing her you could relieve the dealers truck of one of theirs. ( j/k )

The entire thing is $7..... don't be a tight ass...

3hummers -> RE: Part Number Needed (5/9/2008 4:53:12 PM)

Wow that is cheap. I think mine was $16.00. But I was a D/A an ordered from Kascar.

Muddydawg75 -> RE: Part Number Needed (5/9/2008 4:57:35 PM)

It's cheaper because Gene is the man and takes care of us....  I would never consider ordering anything form anybody other than him....

Hello Friend,
I experienced the same exact problem!
I seems that these small covers can easily break off due to the place where they are located.
Near the shoe / foot area.
If a cover accidently pops open, they can easily become  suseptible to becoming accidently kicked and broken off.
What I did was purchase a cover assembly from my local Hummer Parts Center.
You can purchase the cover portion only PART #25749635.
and FYI the recepticle PART #12450044.
The original cover is hinged and has embossed on the top "12V"
This hinged / embossed cover has been discontinued.
The replacement cover is different, it is not embossed with any writing and is not hinged.
It is black with a continuous plastic loop which forms into the cover which snaps closed.
I didn't want to seem odd in replacing this broken cover with the new one and having the other one next to it with the hinged / embossed "12V". It would'nt seem symetrical.
So I replaced the broken cover with the good cover from the rear cargo area auxillary which is hinged and embossed.
And I placed the new cover into the rear auxillary cargo area recepticle.
This is a very delicate and teedious process since you have to use some type of small jewelers screwdrivers to pop out the old covers.
You have to be mindful and figure out how things slide out.
As you handle it, you'll figure it out. It is all a very tight fit at first but once things comence to slide out, it will become easy.
I hope I've helped.
