The June edition of Automobile magazine has an article on the H3T.  In this article, Hummer product director Ross Hendrix says that the I-5 (3.7) will be going away and replaced by the V-6 (3.6).  More important the new V-6 and the V-8 will get a six speed automatics. These changes will be on the 2010s.  Also the H3T outside of America will soon get an Italian-sourced 2.8 liter turbo-diesel (This engine can not easily meet U.S. emissions standards).  GM has a new V-6 diesel that will find its way into both the Cadillac CTS and the next Sabb9-5 in Europe and Hummer is looking at using this engine in the USA.

I think this now makes my decision easier; I will wait for the V-6 with the six-speed auto or see if they offer it with a manual.  My bet is that 2009 will be the last year for a Hummer with a manual transmission. God I hope I can hold out that long.

Yall don’t mind if I just keep hanging around here Hummerless (until the 2010’s are released mid next year) do you? LOL,

A CTS with a Diesel? GM must be hitting that crack pipe a little bit too much these days

Cadillacs used to use diesels in many of the cars. The problem with diesels now is the price of fuel. I just traded in my Duramax for the H3 because I was tired of paying upwards of a $1/ gallon more and the new low sulfer crap dropped my MPG's from 18 down to 14.5. I would like the greenies out there to explain to me how it is better for the environment to reduce the sulfer when it requires extra fuel to travel the same distance. Sorry for the rant. I miss the torque.

Toronodos  and Eldos had diesel options almost 30 years ago.

I'm not overly excited about diesel, and maynard has a good point, the price of fuel has and may continue to make that option less attractive.

A V6 is cool!

I have three diesels, one premium and only one regular gas vehicle. Guess I need to go get one of those enviro friendly green cars to balance out the scales a little.
