ORIGINAL: Wrongway1 Alphadog, No matter what, you are right. We all knew what we were getting into when we signed on the dotted line. Not a whole lot we can do about it now, but drive em, park em, or trade em on something more fuel efficient. Other than the window sticker that pretty much told me I was not buying the H-3 for the gas mileage, I might be showing my age here a bit, but this is not my first Rodeo with sky rocketing fuel prices. I remember in the late 70's when the price of gas doubled in one night, and then they rationed it to even and odd fill-up days. Well, maybe some people are just having second thoughts about owning a Hummer because of the fuel prices. I remember all those “gas shortages” so very well and like you would probably belong in the “seniors club” if they had one here. I keep forgetting that most of my friends on this forum are the same age as my children.

I good tune can help MPG. Optimizing the timing to your grade of fuel will result in the best utilization of your fuel. Adjust shift points to get you in a higher gear to lower engine RPM (without lugging) will also help MPG.

Thanks for the ideas. You gotta understand where um coming from when i ask this question. I got my H3 when i was 16, Dad bought it used with 17,000 on it, didnt even ask for the thing, my idea of a first car was a 2005 toyota 4 runner- but he suprised me with my Hummer-whats a kid to say, no Dad i dont want a hummer. Any ways Dad bought the car, he makes the payments, pays for the insurance, and for the gas. As long as i was making good grades in school and playing football after school he said that he'd pay for my gas. I got tired of playng football and quit back on may 1st, he said GET A JOB, so i took the hint that i was going to have to pay for my own gas from now on. I havent gotten a job yet but when i get out of school for the summer i am going to get one. so back to my origional question: all i wanted to do is see what i could to make it last longer cause i really dont want to get rid of my H

Hey every 16 year old wants a hummer...... and the vehicle's not bad either. Hey dogg, I remember the long lines, the rationing and the (gasp) prices - guess I'm another old fart. Cliff
