I have never been there. Does anybody have any hotel recommendations or just a nice place to stay in general? I don't want to spend a fortune on hotels but I don't know the area so I'm not sure what's nice and what isn't. It's the one where the ducks come down the elevator and waddle thru the lobby.  You have to go to Beale Street, great place for live Blues music.  Also, if your an Elvis fan they have a statue and a restaurant there.  If you want cheap stay at the Days Inn the pool is shaped like a guitar and they run Elvis movies 24 hours a day. We went to the Elvis muesuem and Graceland. My wife has never seen the Smokey Mountains, nor any mountains with vegetation.
