Hey Copperhead,
I"m on my 4th windshield.  If you live in a place where it is cold at night and hot in the day, then this is an issue.  I lived in New Mexico when I replace all my windshields.  I would get hit with a tiny rock while driving and within minutes or the next morning, I would have a crack all the way across my wind shield.  Damn, your replacement was expensive.  The highest price I paid was 700 for the first couple and then I found a place that did it for about 400.  Sorry to hear!  Geometry and engineering is everything.  GM did not replace any of my windshields.  They told me from the first one that glass was not covered and that I was basically screwed.  I was pretty pissed myself.  The only things that they have covered were the recalls.  I am now replacing the AC compressor and have had some noise at 45 since I got my truck.  I still love it but it does try my patience.

Ouch! that does really suck.......as was mentioned earlier, can you submit to your insurance as a claim?? Then it becomes just the deductible I would assume.

Well, its sad but encouraging to hear that others have had mystery cracks.
Lets hope its not a regular venture for me.
Texas is pretty hot year round.

As for the insurance claim..
Ahem.... Im leaving my ins people alone for a as long as possible.
I had a total loss wreck on a new esclade and they had to pony up some large dough.
Id rather not tread on them unless is a major claim comes up..

Othan that, my freeking overhead lights seals went out and got water all in thru the overhead compartments
and I had to have them replaced. But it rained today adn all is well. No leaks.

The beast is trying my patience as well, but worth it.
Its a kick ass ride and get major looks with the mods.
