I either wanted to live in HA on the beach, or anywhere for that matter on a beach, or at least have an office view of a body of water other then my can of Coke. I envy you

I have to admit that it isn't hard to go to work. The girls go out on the patio to eat lunch, read, etc., the yachts are right outside and if you enjoy boats you are in heaven, the rowing teams are always coming by, kayaks, canoes.....it isn't bad.

Come on out. My partner has a 64' Ocean Alexander. Maybe do a harbor run with a few cocktails.

That would be so awesome. I have never been on a ship like that. A cruise ship doesn't count. We've been trying to buy a boat for 2 1/2 years until we decided we wanted a camper instead. This winter we are going to try to find a fixer-upper RoadTrek campervan for cheap and then the boat, THEN the kids. The advantages of having a younger wife come with its, er, advantages, uh, well, yeah.

Yep. My wife is 7 years younger than me. First wife and I had the house, cars, toys, etc before we had kids. Sure made things easier to already have what you want before you do something where you can't have them ( kids )

Yes, when my sister returned from her final deployment before going to shore duty. She's been in the Navy for about 10 years now, and has been out to sea on and off since.

This is her final return and she won't be going back out anymore after this. I just got an email last night from the ship saying she is returning on Memorial Day and they are having this celebration they call a Homecoming. It's either Memorial Day or the day after. Since this is her final return, I may just cancel my vacation plans all together and go surprise her since nobody has ever been there for it. I don't know yet.

The last time this happened I had cancelled a vacation as well. She always seems to come back when I have plans

We'll see.

Family is great about interfering with your plans.

Well, last time she came back she didn't want anything to do with anybody and considering the waters she's been through, I don't blame her.

I just priced plane tickets. I doubt I'd be coming unless I drove. Plane tickets for both of us round trip would be $800 to $1000 for that weekend, of course.

It would be cheaper to drive, literally.

I dunno. This is why I stopped making plans. They always change unexpectedly and then I always look like an ass when I have to cancel them.
