H3 HP increase module question

motley1987 -> H3 HP increase module question (4/24/2008 1:08:14 PM)

Being new to the group, I'm not sure if this topic has come up recently so I apologize if it's redundant. I have an 08 H3 and was looking to buy one of those HP increase modules the go into the AIT sensor. Looking at older posts, it seems the AIT and MAF are combined, so can I not use the module that plugs into the AIT when it's separate from the MAF and only has 2 plugs? I've seen a 4 plug module but wanted to make sure I understand the setup before I spend anymore money. Any information or suggestions of things I should try will help. Thanks!

Ben

PCMForless.  They do a good job, lots of have the mod done, and I think it is the best bang for the buck.

Search PCMForless for reading.

Are you talking about the eBay snake oil resistor?

Go with PCMForless.  Do not trust some lame HP promises by "adding" a mod.  There are a few things going to get you the HP you want, PCMforless is one of them.

That's the one. I don't know anyone that's used one and since they're usually cheap I figured I'd try one.

Give the money to the homeless instead...it will be better spent. Lots of happy PCM4less customers.

It will do more harm than good.  Basicly it make the engine run like it is always cold.  bad enough on a normal engine, and probably even worse on an engine with VVT.  Could cause you to fail a smog test. yadda yadda yadda

Cool, thanks for the help! I don't know how it took me so long to find this forum but I'm glad I did.

ChevyHighPerformance -> RE: H3 HP increase module question (4/24/2008 5:51:40 PM)

The theory behind the module is that it alters the inlet air temperature (IAT) sensor's reading to the PCM.  The module tells the PCM that the incoming air is colder than it really is.  On some vehilcles, the PCM will add timing with the cooler air.  Here is the PCM's IAT timing adder table for the I5 3.5L H3.  You can see that at 104F and higher timing is removed, but below this temperature no timing is added.  So a module will not work on this H3's PCM.
