At least I'm averaging 17.17 around town...hopefully doing a long trip I can get better mileage...the only problem is that when I hit 70mph I watch the gas needle drop!  LOL!!!
I don't need gas money.....at least Muddy is nice enough to let us sleep at his house......!
HummerGuy-Caffeine withdrawal is nasty......I had headaches for a while(months) when I got off of Pepsi....now I can't even stand the taste of the stuff....
Still very much forward to meeting you all!

Yeah Brandie. It's hard. I tried getting off it before and my body just totally went haywire.

Oh yeah; we are in for Sunday! We are taking a side-trip through Tennessee for a few days, but we'll be on Sunday, health issues hopefully resolved She's never seen the Smokey mountains so I'm going to take her through Memphis, Nashville and maybe Chatanooga.

That seems to work out better for everybody, including us.

So Harrisburg is the main town/city in that area, correct? I'm just trying to figure out a base for us to stay Sat and Sun Nights before our trip back to Chicago.

I would stay at the Hampton Inn in Pine Grove, PA.  It's like 7 miles from Rausch Creek.  You can go to their RauschCreek's website and click on the lodging info.
If your going to try to make it in on Saturday and do something with Muddy and I than I would choose to stay somewhere closer to us, in NJ, for Saturday Night.  I'm around 2 hours from R.Creek and Muddy is another 40 mins. from me.

Wrong time to be trying to kick a caffeine habit, you'll need some for the long drive.

Reminds me of that classic movie "Airplane"...."Looks like I picked the worng week to stop sniffing glue."
That's a great movie.

"You ever seen a grown man naked?"

Well, that's what we are going to figure out. Right now, we probably will stay Sat and Sun near the park/trail and head back to Chicago Monday morning. If my wife decides she wants to go to NY, then we may follow you guys home Sunday and find a place in NJ. I'm not sure about that leg of the trip yet though. I'm waiting for her to figure out what she wants to do in TN before I figure out when we will actually get to the park.

What time are we meeting? Is one day enough to go exploring?

Your best bet if your arriving late Saturday would be to stay at that Hampton Inn.  Sat. and Sunday that way it's closer and would cut off atleast an hour or two to your ride.

I'm talking with Muddy to try to come up with an schedule of events for both days.  That way for those who are driving in will know what is going on and when. It will make it easier for everyone if we had a loose schedule, for example if we are going to Wharton on Saturday at 10am-3pm you would know if you can make it there by than.
Once we work out a schdule we can post it here and get everyone's feedback.

I'll be there Sunday morning at the place ready to go. I doubt I'll be there anytime before Sat. night. We are working on that now.

Trey sent me a tenative schedule and I feel he is on the right track to ensure everyone's best interests....

Anyone wanting to come to my house is welcome anytime after Lunch on Friday Afternoon and is also welcome to stay until Tuesday morning... (I doubt you would want to though with traffic)

Most people would be better off to leave from Rausch Creek Sunday or spend the night near there... EVEN if you are going to NY monday... you are MUCH closer leaving from Rausch than coming down into Jersey and then going up...  I-78 takes you a better route than coming down and then going up the NJTP on a holiday weekend... unless you have nothing better to do than sit on the NJTP for 4-6 hours...

That's what I was thinking about. My wife didn't realize we would be spending Memorial day on the road back to Chicago. I don't think she's too keen to that idea apparently, but we'll figure it out.

What time do you want to meet?

Trey; your suggestion is great, but I'm going to try to find something more populated so if we spend the night we'll have something to do before we sleep if we get there early.

I was also thinking about leaving from Rausch and getting a hotel from that point......it would be a lot closer for me to head home from there.....
A tentative schedule would be great!

As of now I think my plan may be to head down Friday and stay with Stan if thats not a prob.  maybe a final touch on shop time.
Do some wheelin Saturday at Wharton it sounds like.  Then I think stay over night in the area to drive to Rausch Sunday morning unless everybody is planning on heading that way to get together for dinner Saturday night and meet.  Then we all could be close to wheel in the morning.
Solarflare when are you coming down Friday or Saturday, morning or afternoon?

Your lights are here... came today... Gene really, really came through this time... he told me it would take a couple days for them to come in and then he would ship them... Yeah... right.... they were AT my house less than 50 hours after I ordered them...

and like Trey mentioned... staying at the Hampton Inn is a good choice just because they give you a discount for wheeling at Rausch...

as for you Mike... I would recommend the Red Roof in Harrisburg... it is right off of I-81 and I-83.... but that depends on what route you are taking back to Illinois...
