Got to experience the wonders of the quake. Come on out Rich. If we can't arrange one you can always go to Disneyland and ride the earthquake ride.

ill take tornados anyday over earthquakes........

1)  at least with tornados you have a general idea that there is a chance one could occur in your area, you are at natures mercy with earthquakes
2)  in a big tornado there are towns and areas around uneffected where you can reach out for help, in a big earthquake the whole area is fuuked.
3)  earthquakes effect underground items such as water and gas pipes, basically putting the area back 100 years, in tornados you are dealing with extensive surface damage and thats about it

just my .02

IDK, I've been in a few tornado's (living in the Midwest will do that for ya) and they aren't much fun. Yes, you have an idea that one COULD happen because of the storm fronts. But with as many storms as we have around here from April-Sept you never know. Unfortunately we get a little complacent about it after we've had a few storms and nothing happens. The other problem is that for some reason they usually happen in the middle of the night. THAT'S when it gets you, you hear the siren's and roll over and go back to sleep because nothing happened the last 4 times that thing went off.

Not taking anything away from your earthquakes, you can keep them!

I dunno, I was born in the SF Bay Area and even remember the '89 that hit the world series. Knocked me on my knees. I guess the difference for me over tornados or hurricanes is that an earthquake happens so rare that you can basically live your life with the "chance" it may happen this year, which they have been saying for at least the last 10 years.

We had 17 aftershocks apparently, the biggest being this morning at 1:00 AM at 4.2 to 4.5 magnitude. They keep talking about how strange it is and all of the geologists not understand what's going on.

I look at all the arguements, but I'll still take earthquakes over tornados. I've lived through one, and even though it was minor, I never want to experience that again, especially when I was on my bicycle when it happened

You guys are welcome to 'em
