stripping chrome off the grill

does anyone have a better way than just sanding? i know naval jelly will eat chrome, but not sure what it will do to the plastic grill (although it's stored in a plastic bottle). the painting i can handle, but if there's an easier way to get the chrome plating off, i'm all ears (or eyes, to be technically correct).

If you want to paint the Grill. Scuff it with scotchbrite and prime it with an etching primer
then topcoat it with the paint of your chosing. If you are worried about chipping add a
flex agent to the paint like what is used for plastic parts and rubber bumpers.

what's a satin blaster? i have a sand blaster, but the grill won't fit in the cabinet, and it would probably destroy it.

didn't think about the scotchbrite, i have some pads for my air grinder, but i think i'll try by hand first if there isn't an easy way to chemically strip it that's environmentally safe (don't wanna kill the grass when i rinse it off). i'm not too worried about dings or chipping, i got a brand new take off from the dealer and i'll be making the air gaps bigger than stock. i just don't want it to look like crap after my first trip on the highway.

thanks for the input

It is best to hand sand it with a marroon scotchbrite pad, but you don't have to strip off the chrome.

shorty, all you have to do to the plasitc chrome is make the finish rough so that the plastic primer will adhere to it and not flake off. Maroon scotch brite will work as will any med-med fine sand paper.
