Called the reliability enhanced HMMWV, " The HMMWV looks the same, but the majority of components have been improved, increasing performance and reliability. " looks pretty cool, I look into it a little more and post more info later but for now heres the video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_kue7dDNWM

more info fresh from AMGs website...

Reliability Enhanced HMMWVs
The Reliability Enhanced HMMWV takes the HMMWV to the next level in performance and reliability. These vehicles have been specifically designed to withstand the harsh environment of South West Asia under increased payload demands. Under development for the past 18 months (from mid-2006) and incorporating actual feedback from the battlefield, Reliability Enhanced HMMWVs are now in full production. These improvements are specific to the M1151, M1152 and M1165 model HMMWVs and have completed full durability testing by the U.S. Government. Actual test results have shown a dramatic improvement in reliability and durability and have validated the effectiveness of a new air-conditioning system that allows the warfighter to focus on the mission and not the environment.
Reliability Enhanced HMMWVs include:
  • Geared Fan Drive (angled fan) **
  • New Cool Pack & Shroud **
  • Rear Differential Cooler
  • New Power Steering Pump
  • New Shock Absorbers **
  • New A-Arm Bushings **
  • New 3-Piece Frame Rails and Crossmembers **
  • Increased Capacity Service Brake with Quick Pad Removal **
  • Re-designed Reduced Effort Steeing Geometry and Linkage **
  • New 24 Bolt Wheels with Increased Load Rating **
  • Re-Engineered Geared Hub Assembly **
  • New Dedicated Parking Brake **
  • Re-Engineered Airlift Brackets **      "

pretty cool, good to see US still interested in the HMMWV,

"specifically designed to withstand the harsh environment of South West Asia"

Interesting item also in that AMG has recently released some new OEM accessories for the H1. The have a rear hitch mount winch with internal operating dash button that matches the Alpha buttons and a new windshoeld washer kit that puts the spray nozzles on the wipers instead of down in the cowling. This should help clear those muddy windshields off a lot easier. Curious that AMG would be bringing out more accessories for a truck they don't build anymore........

maybe they want to bring the h1 back (extremely unlikely) or maybe theyre tired of being critisized for abandoning the h1, they barely mention it in their site and they never mention it in commercials etc. who knows why, maybe the designers were bored.

Not sure but doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Glad they did.

I've been looking everywhere for the Army auctions. You used to be able to find them fairly cheap, not anymore.

Now you can buy the trailers and stuff but they are usually pretty worn out. I think they are refurbishing a lot more than they used to.
