I'm not sure yet, but I don't think I'll be able to find parts for an H1 in Saudi Arabia. I dunno, but let's say I can't.
What parts do you think I should buy ahead of time?
I'm talking about everything.

Brakepads / Air filter / Oil filter

Special weighted oils for the differential or anything else?

What else do you think I would need to buy in bulk, or maybe just have on lying around for that one that it just might break. Because it would suck to have to wait a month or so for a part to come in.

And how expensive are these parts?
Pads / Filters / Whatever you suggest?

I would have a front left and right half shaft, a rear half shaft ( will fit either side ) an idler and pitman arm, tie rods, air/oil/fuel filter, windshield wiper blades and a PCM. As hot as it is in Saudi I would go ahead and get the PCM relo kit. etc. Brake pads/ rotors are not that expensive. I have no idea what is available in Saudi but I would assume the full gamut of oils, grease and lubricants could be found.

Very good, thank you very much. I'm deciding that if I can't find one in my area, I'll just get one from Lunch Hummer. I mean, I wouldn't have to go inspect one of those from what I read about them from you guys.

Get it shipped directly to me and bring with it all the parts. Might as well fill the truck with'em, instead of having to pay another time.

Lynch will do a virtual walk around the truck for you and described the paint, body, interior and mechanical condition of the truck for you. My buying experience was very good. I was buying a new H1 so there shouldn't have been much room for error but others I know that have bought used have been very happy with Lynch. All of them are good but Steve did a nice job for me.

this would all depend on what year your Hummer is.... and what engine you have in it.... answers will vary accordingly

Thanks. I still haven't decided, although 80% sure I'll buy it from Lynch.
But when I do, I'm probably gonna fly there myself and get a feel for which one I'm gonna pick up from the used lot. I think that's the best thing to do, and I'll be able to ask all the questions I need answered.

And be there until it's loaded on the container. I wonder if they'll be able to supply me with the parts that I need (they should right?) We'll see. I want to put everything in that one container, or in the actual vehicle in order to save a headache in the future.

I'll probably be purchasing it close to New Years since that's when I'll know where I'll be situtated the most (Saudi or Lebanon). Register it in that country, and ship it there as well.

i would see if there are any parts for the hummers out were you are from. working on these things for over 14 years the parts list is long. just not main parts like ball joints and halfshafts but seals and ctis stuff i would also stock. lift pumps, radiator and hoses, injection pump/ pmd, and so on.

Mike welcome to the forum. Been trying to buy some of the accessories off of that 96. Any chance I can get the skid plates?

Let me know if you can help. I can't even get the Sales Mgr to return my call. Rob said he told him he wasn't really interested in selling the accessories off the truck but the guy apparently doesn't want to call me. I would buy any or all of them and thought that by lowering their basis in the truck they could lower the price and move it. I have been waiting on the skid plate/rocker panel protection buy on HML but it hasn't happened over the last few months. Let me know if you change their minds. You going to Lost Canyon on the 10th? I am supposed to go with Scott, John, and a few others on Saturday the 10th.

Thanx for the advice hummech. The only lead I have is the local HUMMER dealer, but I won't be travelling there until August. So I have to wait until then. I doubt they have H1 parts, or know how to officially service them. I'm hoping. But I don't have my hopes high.

My only real source, or lead would be the parts from the HUMMVEES that the army uses. There has to be a place where they sell the old used parts. That's where I'll strike gold I believe.

They aren't all interchangable.

first... if they are a HUMMER dealer they are required to have a HUMMER H1 certified mechanic in their service department.... they may have never had one in for service, but they are required by contract for the dealership to have at least one certified mechanic (read into that as you may)

second... relative to the Humvee.... again, depending on the year of the Hummer you get, the Miltiary Humvee also depending on what year it is, can only supply "some" parts, mainly suspension stuff... a Chevy pick-up with a similar engine could supply with virtually any engine component / trans component.....

Phazer we all know that many Hummer dealerships do not have a mechanic that can work on H1s or that know what they are doing when it comes to H1s. That is one reason people drive past a lot of dealerships to bring their trucks to Hummech. Technically you are right but in all of SoCal there are only a couple of dealerships I would let touch my H1s.

when general motors made the deal with am general to market the hummer product line,
part of the deal requested by GM was that AM General close all forein dealers outside of north america. they are opening hummer dealers over seas but they are not under the same guide lines that we are under here in the states. they are not required to have H1 mechanics or parts at those dealerships. i was just talking about this very subject with some AM General people this morning.
