Completly normal wear.  That probably has more to do with that damn salt water mix they spray on the road in the wintertime.  Don't sweat it, respray it...

The trucks are AWD. You should be able to go into 4Hi lock with the tranny in gear. For 4 low lock you will have to put the tranny in nuetral first. The rust looks totally normal, especially for a car from the Chicago area. You may have to hold the button in for a few seconds to get the truck into whatever mode you are trying to put it in.

I voted '05 because generally the first model year of any vehicle is more prone to problems, and I think the all-black interior was new for '05 (I have it in my '06) and I enjoy that a bit mroe than some of the earlier dashes

My 2003 was one of the most trouble free vehicles I have ever owned. I was told the reason they were so hard to get early was that they were watching the quality control very closely. I had several friends with 03 H2s and they all had similiar experiences.
