I would like to know how to remove the roof racks from my 2004 H2 when not in use. Does anyone have an idea how? Thanks. John

Never took mine off but if I remeber right you loosen the rack mountd so they slide in the track and you can slide them done to a wide area in the track and lift them out. I know it doesn't take but a minute because a friend of mine used to take his off all the time.

Unlike the H3 which the cross bars are put on the front, H2s are installed from the rear of the rails.  There should be some inserts to pop out at the end.

no need to remove the marker lights.  there's a plastic insert at the rear of the roof rails that pops out, then the rail can be lifted from that gap.  this is for the SUV, the SUT is different and i think you do have to remove the lights.

With regards to removing the roof racks on an H2 SUV...does that plastic insert just pop off or do you also have to loosen an additional screw.  Last month I inadvertantly parked in a garage which scraped the roof racks (yikes!).  When I tried to pop out those plastic inserts at the rear in order to remove the racks...I had quite a difficult time.  It looked as if there is an additional screw you have to loosen up before taking them out.  Can anyone verify?

Thanks,
Eric

The plastic insert can be pryed off with a flat head screw driver. Just be carful not to slip and scratch the roof top paint. As you pry be watchful how the inserts come out so that you can reposition the screwdriver into the proper position for easier removal. And upon removal, mark each insert left and right because for the purposes of returning the plastic inserts, there is a designated left side track and a right side track plastic insert.
