You're lucky Ford is even around to sell anything to TATA or to the Communist Chinese.  There are a myrid of reasons we have gotten ourselves into this mess but WE, as a country, have made India and the Red Chinese the economic powerhouses they are today.

LOU DOBBS is right, we have sold out our national interests!

Ford did good by dropping this dead weight.  They are both "jag and landrover" automakers with bad reputations that needed to go.  They are english cars not american cars.  If anything the sale should help the American Economy buy helping Ford get back on its feet.

Well Mazda is really strong in the U.S. right now and they are owned by Ford.  They probably make more off of them right now then they do with thier trucks.

I don't know about you guys, but the F150 just seems extremely overpriced these days.

Mike,

Keep in mind that MSRP means nothing these days.  They have so many rebates etc......  And speaking from experience on F150's I have 3 famliy members that have F150's and my best friend has one too.  All are used to tow boat and trailers etc.. and exceed 100K miles.  With no problems.  Overall its a great product.

Our 2002 F-250 crew cab diesel 4x4  has 120,000 miles on it, most towing 10-12000 horse trailers and it has been a great truck. They sell today for about what I paid in 2002.

Oh I never said they were bad trucks.  I personally like them alot.  I just think their base price is a little steep.  I wasn't aware the prices were highly negotiated.  I'm used to the Hummer way of things, where it's sticker or bust.

F150 is only thing keeping Ford afloat.  They don't have enough cash to complete the overdue upgraded design.

Ford always coveted Land Rover and one of the best things they did was to copy them when designing the Explorer which is another great Ford vehicle.

Jag has and always been a disappointment. The cars appeal to all senses but common sense... I was suckered into buying into Jag thinking Ford had cleaned up their reliabilty problems with that new factory they built for them over there.

Well, I was actually considering buying a new Focus but we decided to just keep the H3 and save up for a camper.  We want to get some more road trips in before we have kids.  I haven't really even considered imports even though I have nothing against them.  I've owned more then my share in the past.  I just feel like I'm going to stick with the American companies.

You know it won't be long until we can get our grubby hands on a nice pair of gently used tatas.....for cheap!

I always try to buy American first. With so much manufacturing going on overseas it is getting harder and harder to find that " Made in the USA" tag.

Yup.  The people on this site have made me find a new patriotism to American car companies, even though I don't agree with the way unions are run.

Did you guys know (heard it on the radio yesterday) that the Auto Union's members' numbers are the lowest since the 1940s? I've heard this a few times in the past couple of days.  Apparently car companies aren't the only ones getting sick of the demands of the unions.  Apparently alot of auto workers are fed up with it and dropping them.

Why pay for a union that is strongarming the industry into resorting to moving to other countries to save production costs? That's how I see it, from my inexperienced point of view.

There are a lot of reasons the jobs are going overseas and union wages and benefits are in the mix.
