shortbus -> hi temp question (6/28/2005 7:50:10 PM)

when going up long grades, at highway speeds (65-70), the temperature creeps up into the 225-230 range. this is with nothing being towed, just the bus on its own. outside temp has always been in the 80s, really low humidity. around town or on flat ground the temp stays in the 190-200 degree range. could the winch/cradle be blocking enough airflow to the bottom of the radiator to cause this, or is it normal? usually when i'm going up those grades i'm heading into the foothills to explore the nat'l forest trails, and don't want to go without the winch or **** with putting it on when i get there. anybody in So Cal or AZ see this as well, or should i stop being a puss and not worry about it? i'm heading to the coast with the camper in a month, and the hiway between redding and eureka is pretty steep with minimal level areas. i'd rather not burn up after 5 hours of driving. all other times the temp stays steady, so I'm sure the thermostat is working.
