From HummerGuy's website:

Today HUMMER is running another Moab trail, Hell’s Revenge, with another engineering H3 Alpha – except this is no ordinary Alpha. Instead of a 5.3L V8, HUMMER engineers put a 6.2L V8 into the H3 – the same engine that powers the 2008 HUMMER H2! More on that excursion and vehicle to come.

Maybe the next gen. Alpha will have this engine.

I really dont think they would bring that to production. Im thinking Rod Hall/Team HUMMER may have something to do with this???

Imagine if the H3 did have the 6.2L as an option in the future.

Even though diesel fuel is more expensive then gas I'd rather see a diesel engine in the H3 rather then a bigger gas engine. Just my 2 cents.

Got to be a lot of extra weight up front.

We've been talking about that at work Alpha, how hard it would be to drop a B series Cummins or a 4 cyl Cummins into the H3. Not sure it would be worth it but it's interesting to talk about.

I’m a diesel guy and although a diesel engine costs more to purchase in the long run it’s less expensive to own, there is less maintenance, it lasts much longer then a gas engine and it has more power & torque. It does weigh more but the springs could be beefed up to accommodate the extra weight. I had a 2000 F350 4x4 7.3 Powerstroke with over 120,000 miles on it and did absolutely nothing to it except change the oil every 6000 miles.

Unfortunately in New York State one cannot buy a diesel car of any make because we are a Green State!    I don’t know if a H3 would be considered a car or truck! But it’s nice to dream about it.

We,ve got 110,000 miles on a 2002 F250 diesel 4x4 crew cab with lots of towing included in that. The 7.3 has been a flawless motor.

Here's a link to the original post w/ a couple pics:

http://www.hummerguy.net/hummer-news/2009-hummer-h3t-pickup-truck-makes-off-road-debut

The 6.2L in the h3 is a project truck from Hummer's engineering department -- they have all kinds of time on their hands to just do crazy stuff like the 6.2L, rancho lift, etc.  They're probably the same crew that dropped the LS7 engine in the H3R show truck.

a 6.2l in a H3 is enough power to screw you over bigtime if you don't know what you are doing...

and to be honest I don't want a Diesel anymore... now that it's $4.30 a gallon around here.
