Hi all! It's time to sell my good old 2004 H2. What about the more powerful 2008 H2? Is there anybody out here who already made some experiences? Bye!

I drove one a month ago. The dealer told me it gets a little worse MPG than the other engines. I didn't like the interior quite as much as the 03. It seemed smaller inside somehow??? It was nice though. I can't say much more because the ride was in town and not that long. Lisa

Dear Lisa, thank you for your information. I haven't found one here in Austria or Germany to give it a try. I am very happy with my 2004 H2 but I wanted to know whether it makes sense to buy a brand-new one with the stronger engine or to buy one of the new "old" cars still around here. By the way: Do you know any HUMMER books in the USA? Here we only have one book on the market which is really huge (17 x 25 Inches!) and exclusive. Kind regards Otto

I honestly didn't notice much of a difference in the motor. I only really gassed it once. I guess it depends on what you are doing with it. I have pulled some VERY heavy loads with mine with no problem. To me it wasn't worth the extra cash. Maybe if I had so much money I didn't know what to do with it, then I would get the new one. Unfortunately I am not to that point yet so the difference was not enough for me to get the 08. I don't know about the books... Lisa

You know we can go a bit faster here in Austria than in the USA and a lot faster in Germany. That's why I am thinking of the more powerful engine. Have a nice day! Otto

Well Hummers are definitely not race-cars no matter how you look at it. Would it matter that much anyway if you got to 80 MPH .1 sec faster? I guess you need to test drive one to compare...

i looked extensively at the 08's ( ended up buying an 07 because of the great deal i got). I went back to my hummer dealership last weekend after owning my 07 for about a month to drive the 08 again just for ****s and giggles......the engine does have more power, but the 6 speed tranny keeps you at such a low rpm range that its not noticeable unless you really lay the hammer down.....i dont like the 6speed tranny at all, always seems like you are upshifting or downshifting and it takes away the response of the engine...also, the dealer did say that they are getting about the same gas mileage because the tranny keeps you at the lower rpm range, but the engine is more powerful which uses more fuel. the interior is smaller, they positioned the seats closer together, and the door panels are thicker so there is less room inside. As for the seats, i love the look of the new seats, but the old seats are much more comfortable to me. The one thing i really do like better about the 08's is the dash, i still dont think it suits the rugged look of our trucks, but it is really really nice and the new climate control system is terrific everything on the outside is basically the same IMO, if you are buying an 08 strictly for the upgrades then i dont think right now its worth it, i would wait for the 09's to come out and try to get an 08 that the dealer is trying to move.

Hi! Thank you for your detailed answer. I like the space inside my car and that sounds like I should buy a 07 model. There are still lot of new ones around here in Europe and they are quite cheap due to the exchange rate. By the way: Do you know any HUMMER books in the USA? Here we only have one book on the market which is really huge (17 x 25 Inches!) and exclusive. You can check that out at www.h2book.com Kind regards Otto
