Hi,

I hve 2006 H2.  I want to start using front hitch for wich mount.  My question what pin do you use to lock something in front hitch receiver?  Mine seems to only hve vertical holes for pin.  There is access provided by hole above front receiver.  However, it appears it would take a longer than normal hitch pin or at lease some addition to hitch pin to allow removal when needed.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

I did not have a winch on my H2 but I would think the hitch pin would come with the winch.

I used a standard hitch pin and drilled a small hole through the handle / bent part and threaded a 20 gage wire through it and then i just use the wire to help me fish out the hitch pin. I would image others have a better solution, but it works fine for me.

In your tire tools kit you will find a pin that is specificaly for this.  It looks like an extened hitch pin.

I got mine from this guy... quality was great... came with a locking pin... and if you need the license plate or want to show off another tag then you are golden...

Quality was good enough that 3 of the 4 welds survived my accident...

if you want to keep your winch, i wouldn't use the stock, non-locking hitch pin, unless you plan on taking it off everytime you park somewhere.  this one locks, and goes in from the bottom.  if you buy the standard warn cradle you'll need to drill another hole in the cradle mount if you want to be able to use it front and rear.  i offset the hole about 1" from the existing one so as not to weaken it.  this hitch pin is available from multiple vendors, i got mine from hummer solutions.

Thanks 'Shortbus' for info about locking hitch pin from Hummer Solutions.

I have a few questions about it. The website for this does not have a description.  It appears it only requires an end cap / lock on one end/side.  Is this correct?  If so what is the mechanism that keeps it in the receiver when inverted for front hitch.  Is it secure enough to use when trailering a travel trailer on the rear hitch(6000 lbs.)?

Thanks in advance.
