That must be one awful set of CC&Rs you have there. Don't think I've ever seen one that gave them a vote on your choice of vehicle ( except for parking RVs, boats or broken down vehicles). You know that the H2 is taller and longer than an H1.

Like everyone else has said, the truck was not purchased for its economy.  The ability to whatever you need, wherever you need to, along with its security offsets the increased fuel consumed.  Having just done taxes, I spent over $3600 in gas the last 9 months, lower fuel prices would be nice, but will not change what I drive.  I have heard that no-one is visiting the Hummer Dealers, and sales are extremely slow.  I did receive this interesting e-mail from a friend:

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT     WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO     $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive.  It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton.  If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day'  campaign that was going around last April or May!

It's worth your consideration.  Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!!  Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.  The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work.  Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap.  Me too!  It is currently $2.98 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit s omeone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!  And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?  Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.   If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.  It's really simple to do!  Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people.  If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ..  and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....  THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.  That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 millio

The Writting it off for taxes, is Not all its cracked up to be....

If you use your Hummer or other car or Truck for Business is has to be used for 100% for Business use, No Personal Use........for a total write-off.......and thats only a % amount..

You can use you Car or Truck for Personal and Business as a Write off, as long as you have a Drivers Log Book, so the IRS knows the Differance Between your Beer Runs compared to your Business use.......(What a Hassle)

The thrid choice is the one I use............I dont use it for a Write-Off.........what ever they take off is the same for Everyone......and I drive it everyware........

We are an Internet Business and running for Stamps Or Going to UPS store is all I could Write off for Business......

Now if you were selling Insurance or Homes/land that would be a Toatal/Perfect write-off...

There has Been 8 Business Owners here with Hummers, Fined by IRS for Cheating on there Taxes, when it comes to Mileage.........when theres an Audit........

I dont have to Worry about that.............Rick

As stated, higher operating/gas costs will negatively impact all low mpg vehicle values ( trucks, SUVs Hummers ) Look at the prices on Ebay. I think the used H2s should be selling at significantly higher prices. Even H1 prices are under some pressure even those tend to be more spare play toy type vehicles than everyday drivers. I am not sure if that is because of oil prices or more related to the overall economic funk.

I use the log book.  It takes less time to write down your mileage than you think, it's just a habit you have to get into.

Gas prices.........

Ever notice, they tell you ahead of time what the prices are going to be, that way your all-ready mentaly perpaired for the up coming pirce of Fuel.......

There going to stay up........and down.....its Business...........supply and demand.........

Just in Fort Laurdale, the taxes on gas is 48 cents a Gallon.......in west palm beach its 52 cents a gallon..........

Right Now as we/I speak there 1-3 Tankers parked out of port Everglades with gas/Fuel and waiting to have them off-loaded....but no where to put it.......untill we use some more of it............its not a Supply problem...its a GREED Problem..........

Now that were using smaller cars, using less gas and not running around as much, they have plenty of gas...but not lowering the prices.....to make Profit..for the Stock Holders...

I think the person who can't afford gas at present , if there driving a Car,will not buy a HUMMER, becuase of the gas price............

Those of us who Bought the HUMMERS Knew it was not a gas saver, when we bought them...........i/We bought Ours for the RIDE and CONFORT..and Boldness of the Truck......

The Gas is a Sencondary to Having it........along with the Mantance costs.........

Its worth it.........

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring up the fact that the Oil Companies aren't the real culprits here. It's the Govt Taxes on the gas/oil. Almost half goes to taxes then the rest is divided up between local operators, transport, THEN the oil companies. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they aren't making any money off of it. Hell, just last year the oil companies report a record profit margin for their 4th quarter earnings. But I don't have a problem with someone making money, I have a problem with all of the taxes then everyone going and getting mad at the wrong people. While the govt sits back and watches us all whine and cry about Sunoco, Shell, etc... People need to research a little more and stop relying on The CBS Evening News for all of their information.

Yeah, but these same oil companies are making BILLIONS IN PROFIT every year!! Don't get me wrong,
I'm ALL for FREE ENTERPRISE, but in a free enterprise business model, there is COMPETITION. There is NO
competition in the OIL COMPANIES!!! If one raises prices, they ALL DO!!!

Here in Vegas I was at my local Hummer dealer a week or two ago test driving a used H2, the dealership was pretty empty people wise and you could tell the sales people were not happy.
A freind of mine recently quit the local Hummer store because of the huge sales decline.
When I got my H3 a year and a half ago the same dealership was packed everytime I went in there.
I have also been seeing used H2's getting marked down like crazy here in Vegas at "all" the local dealerships.
As someone that does not care that much about gas prices and can afford the gas I must admit that I have put getting another H3 or an H3T higher on my shopping list than the H2 because of the gas prices.
And then again, its not so much the gas prices as I think it is my memories of when I was a kid and the big gas shortage happened, and there were lines down the street for blocks just to get gas, if that happens again I want to keep my visits to the gas station to a bare minimim.

With all that being said though, the H2 is still a consideration for me, going to check another one out this week that I have been looking at,,, the marked down H2 prices make it kinda tempting.

Cheers
Davyo
