At the end of the month I'll be carrying an entertainment center on my roof bars up to NC. My cabin up there is finally finished and I found the perfect entertainment center for it, but down here in Florida. I hope that I don't drop it on the drive...the thing is pretty big. Anyways...I will post pics when the time is here. Wish me luck!!

By the way if you guys have pics of your Hummer with stuff on the roof please post them.

Later,

Are the roff crossbars only rated for 300 lbs??  I don't think that the entertainment center is 300 lbs....but I wonder if the wind will play a factor as far as lbs.  hum???

I have had two of the Hummer black storage pods on the roof of my old H2 loaded with camping and hunting gear. I doubt that the total weight was over 150#s including the storage pods. Not sure what they are rated to hold but I think you may be stretching it.

There is a formula in your owners manual... 300 is a rough number....

but since I forgot to answer your question before.... I had 4 6'x8' fence panels on mine.... those loops make it easy to ratchet strap stuff down.

I had a 14' john boat up top before, but thats pretty light. I did have two night stands strapped to the top of my SUT bed cover, they were only about 80 to 90 lbs each.

I can see it now, An H2 with a big entertainment center strapped up top, all you need after that is granny in the rocking chair and you could look like the modern day Clampetts.

How did you get her to stay up there? My MIL kept scrambling back down off of the top of the Hummer.

Biggest thing  I have had is a 100# Deer from Muzzeloader Season.  I  was very suprized how strong the roof was I  was able to walk on it without  any deflection.  And I was 225#'s at the time. Down to 200#'s now getting ready for boat season!

Always had trucks growing up. The deer went in the bed of the truck. Don't think Iever saw a deer on the roof of a Hummer. Take a picture next time. Hell when does hunting season start... I'm ready for it now.
