Hello all,

I have a 2004 H2, and about every 2 weeks or so the H2 will crank and will not start. I can usually wait about 10 minutes and then it will start. Again it only happens every 2 to 3 weeks. Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you ever done any preventive maintenance to it?

Do you use good gas or the cheap stuff?

Do you have any aftermarket alarms?

I do have an aftermarket remote starter / alarm, I do use the less expensive fuel, and have not performed any preventive maintenance, except regular oil changes. I purchased the H2 with 33K miles on it, and have put 17K miles on it since I owned it (approx 2 yrs). The problem started about a year ago, and would happen about every 2 to 3 months. I am guessing that it happens about every 3 weeks  or so now.

Thanks

The ignition switch is known to cause strange problems. I might start with a new one. They don't cost much.

The alarm stand out first to me... did you add the alarm before the problems? or did it come with it?

Voltages are more important in the newer cars... is the battery new/newer?  I had a similar issue with mine.  It wouldn't start in the morning but by 4pm when I got home it would... I replaced the battery and the problem has never returned.

You are also ready for a major service. They might turn something up when they do that.

It is my wifes truck. here is a little more info, we do not have an alarm, it is a remote starter, and the problem did start sometime after the installation, but I do not believe right away. Wife says when she is cranking it, all of the gages are dead, and says that the key seems to stick with the ignition switch rotate forward, and will let loose momentarily (within a second or two or three...). I do not recall replacing the battery since we have owned the vehicle. Please keep in mind that the vehicle cranks fine. It just seems like it is not getting fuel at that time.
