Its been 1 week with my new 2008 H3. I decided today to wash and polish the H3 and found atleast 4-5 paint defects on the truck, other wise everything else is fine. I just called the dealer and they told me stop by tomorrow so the manager can take a look at it. Any suggestions as to what I may expect.

What kind of defects are you talking about?

Orange peel and metal deformation are "value added" features on the H3..........

Without seeing them no way to tell. Some are picker than others. there were a few little minor imperfections in the paint on our new H3 but I figured after a couple of weeks with my wife driving those would be the good spots.

The paint is bubbled out, almost feels like there is like sand or a pebble under the paint. I noticed this on the lower drivers door theres 2 there and another 2 on the roof of the truck between the passengers side and back. The car is a lease so I dont wanna get banged at the end when I return it,you cant really notice it. I will see what the dealer says.

I think that is a GM thing  The 06 had some of those as well as my Tactical has 1 that I can think of. My 07 Silverado had some also. Suppose dealer could have them fixed, none of them were that big of an issue for me though. They were all in places that you wouldn't see if you weren't the one waxing it.

They should call it the  "rugged hammered finish."

My 08 has a complete paint job defect.

I don't know how else to explain it other than there are little wee bubbles everywhere. Very small, but pen point sized bubbles on the whole paint job.

I had a spot or to on my 08, one that even looked like a half a$$ed repair..."pre-scarred for a rugged appearance"

That sucks big time. My paint is fine, but it had scratches on the roof that I didnt notice until weeks later.

Take them out on the trail a few times and you won't notice the factory paint blemishes anymore.

Since my truck was only 1 week old. I took it back to dealer they acknowledged it wrote it up had the manager sign. Then I called Hummer customer service who documented the defects and also the service manager's looked at it with a paint expert and said they would not touch it with a 10 foot pole. They said the rest of the trucks looks great and that if I should have any paint trouble n future it has been documented with them, hummer and dealer plus I also have the documentation signed. I suggest calling Hummer and letting them know not only to cover yourself but also for future quality control issue's from the plant.I love my truck runs and looks great but I think Hummer has some quality control issue's at there plant.

General Motors IS a paint defect!  My H3 is full of Orange Peel and other defects so I asked my friend who owns a body shop and he said that is common for any GM product.  He even offered to wet-sand it and clear coat it again but ya know, it's  truck, no blingage here.  It looks better covered in dirt and mud anyhow.
